A/N: there is an authors note at the end! Hope you enjoy!

Chapter Begin:

"Honey, you know that's not enough to pay for these fruits." Came the hoarse voice of the fruit bender. (Y/n) looked into her money sack hoping the amount would change to be greater.

"I can offer you only a fraction more, I have nothing else for today's buy." Fruits are the staple for her, as anything else is to expensive for what she earns.

"I can give you a discount today for you frequent patronage, however this is a one time offer. Everything is becoming more expensive and my family needs money." The fruit seller smiled and graciously gave her the fruits at the lowered prices.

"Thank you, times are tough, and money is well and truly hard to come by." Waving a goodbye (Y/n) picked up the worn sack half filled with fruits. Carrying her two sacks she made her way out of the busy market and into the Main Street of her poor town.

Walking for 15 minutes she reached the estates. There was a clear divide between the poor and the less poor people of the town. She turned into the poorer district of the estates. Making her way past the pieces of wood pulled together to make what looked more like huts than the 'mini houses', they are advertised as.

stopping in front of the hut she calls home she examined the few meters that she lives on. Her house was not coloured although it was quite clean, the 'yard' had grass and had developed a walk path from being trampled on. Although said yard was small and there was not backyard.

Stepping inside (Y/n) placed her items on the kitchen sink, with it being the only place to put the sack of fruits. The money she hide under her scavenged mattress, which was on the hard floor. After sorting through the fruits she brought there was only a small amount left for her to do. Grabbing an old broom, one of her few possessions she swept the floor bringing fast and dirt to the door. Opening the door to sweep out the mess, two people stood on the other side.

"You know why we are here, time to pay this months keep." Absentmindedly one of the women spoke.

"I have my payment just inside, it will only be a moment." (Y/n) responded confidently. Taking out her payment money she returned to the women. Handing over the payment and quickly attempting to close the door when a hand blocked the action.

"This is not enough (Y/n), we keep you out of the fractions way and this is all you offer us?" The other women protested harshly.

"This is the same amount I payed last month, why is the price going up?" (Y/n) queried feeling concerned and tired.

"The fractions are wanting more witches to join them, and are willing to pay a hefty price of ones with skills in magic." Replied the first witch, councilmen Stella, flicking her dark hair.

"If you have enough to pay for your fruits, then surly you have more money." Added the second, nicer dressed, witch councilmen Colista.

"Please councilmen I have very little to spare surly I can keep that much?" (Y/n) gave her attempt to negotiate, hoping to win there sympathy.

"The witch fraction zuli would be delighted to hear of you skills, I'm sure you would be put to good use." Councilmen Stella threatened turning more serious.

"I understand, I will give what is left." Handing over the last of her money the councilmen left and (Y/n) laid on her bed. She thought of what she could do to earn more money, realising there isn't anything.

Changing from her worn blue dress to an equally worn nightgown. (Y/n) moved the dark blue day dress to the end of her mattress  in and attempt to make her bed neat. Getting under her blanket stitched together from old cloth found on the streets.

(Y/n) thinks over the news of the day from the normal attacks in town, and the prices of items, to the number of people on the streets throughout the day, before eventually succumbing to sleep.
