P.s sorry for any errors!

Start chapter:

"(Y/n)! Come on! We need to go to work!" A woman's voice called through the thin wooden door.

(Y/n) awoke startled. Eyes widening as she comprehend what her ears had heard. "Ah! I'll be out in a moment!" She yelled quickly. Gently throwing off her sown blanket, which was made of scrapes of fabrics, her hurried steps pounded on the floor as in a straggled action to grab all her items and change.

Pulling the door open she skid out the door and slipped from the angle falling on her side. Quickly standing and checking her only set of work clothes, which was a thin dress cloth with a piece of worn fabric tried around the middle. She also wore worn sandals and a stitched blanket over her shoulders, it was the nicest thing she owned, only she found it not brought it.

Knowing that her coworker left, she rushed to the town hall to be in time for her job.

"(Y/n) today you will be on servant duty for house Lois, as always your payment is in tips." Came the cold voice of councilmen Colista.

"I understand." Replies (Y/n) with a practiced bow. Before she turned for the exit.

"Your reluctance to pay yesterday says otherwise. The witch attacks are becoming more frequent in neighbouring towns. This applies to you all. (Y/n) dismissed." Colista threatened to the room of poor witches.

Leaving the room (Y/n) made her way to the front of the building were to  collect her work items, including a clean white apron, cap and cleaning cloth.

Leaving the town hall, (Y/n) makes her way to the house of Lois. Although allowing the way she becomes acutely aware of the presence of grim reapers. Wishing to talk to them she thought about using telepathy magic however that requires three conditions to be fulfilled; the reaper has to be close by, she has to have meet the reaper, and it requires her casting a spell. Aside the fact she has never meet the reaper, she can't use her magic.

(Y/n) is a skilled magic user, and owns a couple books on magic, one in particular is quite important to her. In her early childhood hood she learnt magic from her book with the help of her parents, however when she turned 15 her home was attacked by humans suspecting them for using dark arts. In order to protect (Y/n) her mother sent her to a village with some money, (Y/n) was told to find a witch there and ask for Alidh. Knowing alidh meant protection in one of the ancient witch dialects (Y/n) assumed it was to keep her safe. Barely escaping with a herself and a magic book, she made it to the town.

Years later it occurred to her that the humans that attacked her home were sent by witches. It was a result of a change in witch law declaring no unregistered witch could practice magic.

Arriving at the large house she went inside to present herself to the head mistress.

"Ah! Finally! Server you are to clean the sheets in the house before making me tea. If you do so quickly and well I may give you a tip." Lady Lauda, the house mistress stated carelessly before returning her focus to her sowing.

Bowing, (Y/n) left to head to the main bedroom to begin her work. Throughout her day she made note of the more careless and truthful nature of the house's mistress, especially when compared to what her mistresses where usually like.

Around midday she was serving tea when Lady Lauda started speaking to her. "You are quite diligent in your work, surpassed my expectations greatly! I'm surprised you work in this lowly town and not for the Zuli business. Especially considering there are no qualifications required." She finished by siping her newly poured tea.

"If I can speak?" Lady Lauda nodded to (Y/n). "I think you would be surprised by how the Zuli business operate. They have no care for there workers, they only want power and will go to any lengths to get it. Although this is only what I have heard." (Y/n) carefully responded, being cautious to not offend her lady. Not to mention that they now track and attack anywhere with magic traces.

"I see. It is quite a different view from the prospective of the middle class such as myself." Lady Lauda pointedly stated.

Taking note of the turn in atmosphere, (Y/n) decided to change topics. "My Lady, I wondered if you know anything about the attacks happening in the neighbouring towns?"

"I'm afraid I know very little on such matters, as it is not of my concern. However I am able to assist you in providing newspapers from the previous few weeks. They are my husbands study and if you are carful you may read them before you leave." Her voice gentle as she placed her tea cup on the table before standing and leaving the room.

Grateful (Y/n) was quick with her remaining tasks before heading to the study to find information on the attacks.

Looking through the pile of news papers the attacks were seemingly random if it wasn't for the fact that the victims were always missing and that there was always blood left behind.

Leaving for the day she headed to the town hall to return her work items. On her walk she noticed there where fewer grim reapers than in the morning, although some still stayed. Death was normal in the poor hit areas of town, living standards were appalling and no one could afford better.

Once at town hall she returned her items only to find to strange men walking through the door. One was dressed in navy blue hues and the other in black. Before she could look further councilmen Stella noticed her giving a warning look to indicate that she must immediately leave. Feeling threatened by the new people and by Stella's warning she hurried out worried that the men may be from Zuli, although before she could leave the door the navy blue man called to her in a clear and polished voice, "Be careful, there has been suspicious activity in the surrounding towns." Nodding (Y/n) looked directly into his sapphire eye and noticed that the man wore an eye patch, she immediately becoming aware that the men where of high class making them unsafe for her to be around as they my be undercover Zuli scouts. Rushing to the main door she left and run home as fast as she could being hyper aware of her internal emotions and there effect on her usually calm magic.

Stepping into her home she quickly took out her magic book, the only possession she owned from her parents and held it close allowing herself to calm down as well as letting the book secrete properties clam her magic power.

Being to scared to move she fell asleep sitting crossed legged, leaning over her precious magic item.
