❝Minghao...?❞
...
Minghao froze up at Jun's voice. He really didn't expect the human to be out at midnight. The prince wanted to run off but didn't have energy to because of crying. ❝Minghao... why are you crying?❞ The guard whispered as he walked over to the boy. He squatted down to his height and stared at him. The latter looked up and sniffed back more tears, he didn't want to show this side to Junhui yet.
❝I-I'm fine...❞
Junhui shook his head with a chuckle. ❝Lying won't solve the problem. You can trust me, right?❞ Minghao looked away but with a small nod Junhui smiled and picked up the boy up bridal style. The auburn haired boy let it happen as he rested his head on the other's chest. The guard carried him to a bench and placed him down there before taking a seat next to him. ❝You want to talk about it now?❞ He asked. Minghao softly shook his head, the other understood and just patted the boy's thigh.
❝Y-you don't have to be here.... you can leave-❞
Junhui took his hand and intertwined the fingers together. ❝I would rather be here with you...❞ The guard said as he rubbed soft circles on the boy's hand. Minghao blushed at the movement but didn't let go, he felt butterflies in his stomach flutter around. He stared at their hands with a soft smile coming to his face.
❝J-junnie... why are you being so nice to me? We haven't even known each other for a long time.❞ Minghao asked him as he let go of his hand. Junhui thought while he stared at their surroundings for awhile.
❝I haven't known you for long, but I know that we can have a wonderful time with each other.❞ The guard said with a soft smile. He went back to holding hands, if their was brighter light, you would be able to see Minghao's red tinted cheeks. Junhui kept on talking about different things but one caught the prince's attention.
❝So what Chan said was true? You never left your palace?❞
The guard sadly nodded. ❝Yeah, our kingdom has a yearly tradition of taking in kids any age to train to be a guard. I got in when I was five, so I forgot what the outside was like. The world is a beautiful thing.❞ Minghao looked at how the latter's face wasn't the lit up face he was used to. ❝Coming here is actually one of the best accidents we did. I haven't seen the princes this happy... their father isn't the type to let them have fun.❞
❝That sounds terrible!❞
❝Well.... we had to get use to it.❞
❝What about you? You're a guard, not a prince.❞
❝I'm the prince's personal guard. We have to be next to them the whole time. So I don't get to leave the castle like other guards.❞
❝Oh....❞
❝Don't worry, my sadness shouldn't effect you.❞
❝Hey, don't be sad...❞ The prince mumbled while poking the his side. Junhui looked at him and chuckled. They continued in a comfortable silence as the night went on. The older boy soon felt a head on his shoulder, it was an asleep prince.
Junhui picked up the boy and carried him into the palace. He walked around for awhile looking to see if anybody can help him. Just in time, a tired looking Seokmin came into the hallway, the younger guard looked towards the two's direction and lit up.
He made his way towards them in a rush. ❝Finally! Where have you guys been-❞ Seokmin was cut off with a loud 'shhh' from Junhui. ❝Oh right, sorry.❞ He apologized and lead him to the princes' room.
