Aliens

Celeste's POV:

"Mandy, I'm going to bed now", I take off from the long wide table, filled with noisy kids. Mandy calls out to me,

"Have you finished your dinner?"

I don't have time to reply as Mandy scolds little Tommy for throwing carrots at 5 year old Cassie.

With a sigh I run up the flight of stairs. Welcome to MooreVille Care-Home. Stuffed with a bunch of rowdy children. I honestly don't know how our caretakers Mandy and Davers, do it. There's only 20 of us in this unusual house. I've been here for around 4-5 years, since I was 13 years old. Not much to say but I had a dark past.

As I silently close my door, I lean my back against the frame. I quickly lock the door and grab my usual hoodie that I always take out, when I'm on my strolls.

Tying my long brunette hair, pulling the hood over my head and pulling on my sneakers, I let out a loud sigh.

"Celeste! Have you gone to sleep yet?", Davers battered voice rattles through my door.

Davers, the scariest care-worker we've had since I've been here.

"Uh, y-yeah. Just tucking myself in!", I shout, switching the lights off and backing away from the door.

"Okay. Goodnight, Celeste." Davers lets out a sigh of tiredness. I get it. He's here every day of the week and though he may seem terrifying, he loves us all dearly. He's always tired from us wearing him out. It must be so hard for a grown man to look after 20 kids with just one other care-worker.

"G'night, Dave", I say warmly.

As I hear his retreating footsteps, I open my window, wide and climb the hell out before anyone else comes to disturb my 'sleep'.

I climb down the now rusty pipes, leading to the downstairs large bathroom's window.

I've been going on my nightly walks since my 15th birthday and to say the least, I couldn't stop since.

It's the facts that no one knows where I am or how no person can see me in the dark. It just makes me feel like a whole load of weight gets lifted off my shoulders. As if no one can stop me from doing whatever I want. It feels amazing.

The feeling of freedom overcomes during these moments.

As I hit the pavement, I start grinning like a maniac.

Soon my walks turn into sprints. I lash my arms out and laugh. I go through the forest. WoodsMane Forest. Reads the old tattered wood sign.

I scream out at the tall dark trees, knowing that no human will hear, "I'M FREE! I'M FREE!"

When I stop to catch my breath, I start laughing.

Well.

It feels like I'm high on crack.

Not that I've done drugs...

I see the lone bench in the middle of the forest and make my way towards it.

From the corner of my eye, I see a shadow lurk behind a tree.

My back stiffens and I snap my head- looking around. "Huh... Could be just some alien from outer space, ready to take my soul. Oh wait!" I scratch my head looking up at the dark sky, filled with stars, in confusion. "Or maybe it's those aliens from Attack The Block", I shrug and look back around.

I jump. Someone's here. Twigs start snapping from the below aliens claw-feet-paws. Who am I kidding aliens are not real. Even little Tommy doesn't believe in them...
