【 Tom's POV】

I don't get why Edd decided we all should adopt a kid. I mean- we can barely take care of ourselves, how will we take care of a kid. But, Edd had already made up his mind, none of us were going to be able to talk him out of it. And off on our way to adopt a kid.

I sat in the passenger seat, drumming my fingers on the door of the car as Edd drove to the orphanage. Me and Matt were supposed to keep our eyes out to make sure that Edd didn't pass up the place. Unsurprisingly, Matt was admiring his reflection in the mirror, so I ended up being the only one keeping my eyes out. Though...I don't have eyes.

"It's over there, Edd," I said when I saw it, gesturing towards the place.

He nodded and pulled up to the place, turning off the car and taking out the keys. All of us got out of the car, our doors seeming to be slammed shut in sync. With that, he heading inside the orphanage, greeted by a tall women who seemed to be waiting for us.

"Hello! You must be the guys who called, I'm Ms. Robinson, here I'll lead you to the playroom." The women introduced herself with too sweet of a smile, almost sickening sweet.

We followed her down the long hallway to the room she had been talking about. There were a lot of kids in the room. Some doing their own thing, some chatting or doing stuff with others.

"Go ahead and look around, tell me when you find a kid you like." Ms. Robinson said, giving us another sickening sweet smile before walking off.

I looked around, Edd and the other two going off to talk to any kiddos that caught their attention. Me, I stood there looking around for a good minute until I noticed a (h/c) (gender) sitting in the corner, the kids they were talking to walking away for whatever reason. After the kid looked back down at whatever they were doing I walked over.

【(y/n)'s POV】

To say I was surprised to see one of the guys walking over to me was an understatement. The people adopted never talked to me, most of the time they completely ignored me. I don't know why, I guess I just gave off a bad vibe or something. But here this guy was, walking over.

"Hey, kiddo," The guy greeted, giving me a lazy smile.

He was tall, with spiky hair. He also had these black voids instead of eyes that I couldn't help but to stare at. Layla would've called him a freak, but in my opinion they were super cool. Unique even!

"Hi." I greeted, giving a shy smile.

I felt a wave of shyness wash over me after a spoke, suddenly nervous. I was kind of nervous that one wrong word and he'd walk away, I didn't want that to happen.

"Tell me about yourself kid," He said, taking a seat in one of the plastic chairs that surrounded the table, his head moving a bit like he was looking down at my drawing, before moving back to facing me.

"Well..." I began, thinking. "My name is (y/n), I'm 10 years old, and I like drawing and (o/i) [other interest]," I explain.

He nodded as I spoke, his expression not shifting even slightly. I expected him to just walk away and go talk and adopt another kid, but to my surprise he kept talking to me.

We talked for a bit. I learned his name was Tom and him and his three roommates had decided they should take care of a kid. After awhile his friends walked over, from the looks of it they hadn't found anyone they liked. They all looked at the two of us, seeming to be listening to our conversation. Finally one in a red hoodie cleared his throat, catching Tom's attention and making him look over at them.

"Oh, hey guys," He said, his lazy smile turning to a completely blank expression.

"I see you found someone you like," The one in a green hoodie said with a cheerful smile.

I gave him a smile as he walked over and sat in the plastic chair next to Tom, this large cheerful smile on his face that was kind of contagious and made me smile wide as well.

"Hello, I'm Edd. This is Tord and Matt, and you know Tom," Edd introduced, gesturing to each person he introduced.

"Hi, I'm (y/n)," I introduced myself to the three.

After I talked a bit more with the three of them they stepped away to talk, most likely about who they decided on. I could see Layla from the corner of my eye smirking at me, they must have talked to her as well.

After what started to feel like hours they made their decision and started to walk over. I thought they were walking over to Layla, and judging by her smirk she did too. But to both of our surprised they walked over to me. I gave a nervous smile.

"Hey, kiddo, how'd you like to be adopted?" Tom asked, giving me a smile.

I was speechless, unable to form words so I just nodded my head. Layla seemed furious as she watched, her arms crossed over her chest as she glared daggers at me.

Before she could speak up, the guys had me go pack my stuff and went to, I'm pretty sure, go find Ms. Robinson. I ran to the second girls hallway, passing Keisha and Jacob on the way and giving them hugs, saying my goodbyes. We agreed that we could find each other once they got adopted. I smiled and walked into my room, packing all of the stuff that I was allowed to in a bookbag. I zipped it up and put slung the strap over my shoulder, heading downstairs and ran back down the hallways.

Tom and the others were already there waiting for me, Edd having a clipboard in his hand writing something. I made my way over to a wide smile, bouncing slightly. I watched Edd hand the clipboard back to Ms. Robinson, who gave me her usual fake smile and said goodbye before walking off.

"Ready to go?" Edd asked me with his cheerful grin.

I gave a happy nod and followed the boys out the orphanage and down to small parking lot to their car. Edd and Tom got into the front, Tord opening one of the back car doors and let me get in and sit in the middle before getting in himself, Matt getting in and sitting on my other side.

Edd started the car, and we were off. I couldn't help but to have a huge grin on my lips as they drove. I couldn't believe it! After years I was finally going to have a family and parents dad's to care for me!
