Later that day the team got a call from Fury for a meeting.
"Alright kid, we're gonna be gone for a couple of hours, but Bucky is still here. He isn't going into the field again yet so he's gonna stay here with you", Tony told him.
"Okay, thanks for telling me. I'm gonna look for him then. Have fun at the meeting!", Peter said.
"I'm sure I won't have any!", Tony yelled as he left.
Peter spotted Bucky on the couch in the living room. Peter realized that Bucky was the only one of the team Peter hadn't really talked to yet. Of course they had talked a little bit, but they didn't have had a real conversation.
"Hey Bucky", Peter started. "Can I sit here?"
"Hey kid, of course you can sit here", Bucky answered with a soft smile.
Peter thought that Bucky was a really nice guy. He always cooked or baked for the whole team, he helped everyone who needed it and he never was one of the loud ones.
Peter knew that Bucky was the Winter Soldier and that he had been mind controlled by HYDRA, but he didn't really know what had happened to him. He couldn't imagine how horrible it must have been for the former soldier and he got sad only by thinking about it.
"So what are you doing?", Peter asked the super soldier.
"Oh I was just about to watch this TV show. Sam told me it would be really good", Bucky answered.
"What's it called?"
"Supernatural I think."
Peter was freakig out. "Oh my god you totally need to watch that show! It is the best show that has ever been made! Come on, let's watch the first episode and you tell me wha you think about it."
Turns out Bucky loved the show instantly almost as much as Peter did so they didn't only watch the first episode, but also the next three.
"Hey Bucky?", Peter suddenly asked out of nowhere.
"What's going on kid?"
"You know your arm.. it's metal right? So do you think you could put magnets on it?"
Bucky looked at him grinning. "Well there's only one way to find out."
Nobody had to say one more word. They stood up and raced to the kitchen where they found a ton of magnets on the refrigerator.
Peter found a really cute pink one that had little daisies on it. It held a picture Tony and Steve kissing while the rest of the team was photobombing and making weird faces. He grabbed the magnet and put the photo on the counter.
"It holds!", he exclaimed when he put it on the metal arm of the man who stood next to him.
"Wow you really had to use the girliest one you could find", Bucky said fake annoyed as he looked at his arm.
Peter looked at him with puppy eyes. "I think it's really pretty. Leave it there pleaaasee.."
"Fineeee", Bucky sighed. "But now that we're already here we could prepare dinner. I'm sure the others will be back soon."
"Yeah, I'd love to do that", Peter agreed. After they decided what to cook they just stood there in without talking until Peter broke the awkward silence.
"Sooo ummm I have a question, but you don't have to answer it if you don't want to", he started.
"It's okay kid, you can ask me anything", Bucky assured him.
"How do you deal with it? With all that has happened to you? I mean you were mind controlled and you still are so strong. How do you do that?"
Bucky looked a little bit taken back. He had probably expected some question about his metal arm and its technology. He cleared his throat and answered in a much calmer voice than before.
"Honestly I don't really know. After Steve found me I didn't have much time to deal with it because of all the fighting. But then I came here and stopped going on the field. It just brought up to many memories of all the things I did. I guess I'm trying to forget the past and move forward, because every thought I spent on the past is either about the war or HYDRA. I don't even know who I was before they found me, I barely remember anything from that time."
Peter could see a tear slip from Buckys eye, but the super soldier continued.
"I'm really trying, but I don't know how to recover.."
Before he could say anything else Peter pulled him into a big warm hug. And suddenly the strong soldier didn't look so strong anymore. He couldn't hold back the tears anymore and started to sob into Peters shoulder.
"I still think you are amazing", Peter whispered. "You got through all of that and here you are. You're trying and I think you are doing pretty good. You are the strongest person I know."
Bucky had calmed down a little bit and smiled at Peter through the tears. "Thank you. I cann see now why Tony chose you. You're more than just a strong superhero. You are so special Peter. Don't ever let somebody take this from you."
Peter hugged Bucky as tight as he could. "Thank you Bucky. "You know I've never told anyone all of this before. Nat knows a bit, but nobody else from the team does."
"Not even Steve or Sam?"
"No. You know Steve was really busy trying to make things right with Tony and I didn't want to make more problems. And I always felt like Sam woulnd't want to listen to all of that."
"Oh I'm sure Sam would listen to anything you tell him. Even if it was the most boring thing in the world", Peter told him smirking a bit.
"Seriously?!", Bucky exclaimed fake offended. "That's what you want to talk about after I tell you my secrets?!"
Suddenly they heard a noise from outside of the kitchen.
"What secrets?", they heard Sam asking while was walking into the kitchen followed by the rest of the team.
"Secrets? Who's talking about secrets? We have no secrets!", Peter answered grinnig, but giving Bucky a look like We are so not done talking about this.
