"Almost done?" Shalnark asks while walking in, only to see that you had quickly put everything away as soon as the door opened.
"Oh, it's just you..." You breathe a sigh of relief and he raises an eyebrow.
"Well anyway, we settled on something for lunch and it should be here soon." He says and walks back out of the room. You didn't mean to offend him by saying that, its just that you were hoping it wasn't Uvo. That would have been awkward...
When lunch came, you ate and then retreated back to your room, searching for where you left it.
'Where's my phone..?' You thought, examining the drawers and everything in the room, then your pockets. It was nowhere to be found. "Hmm..." Giving up, you walked out of the room and saw Uvo and Shal talking.
Sighing, you sat down on the couch next to Uvo. Shalnark noticed you but decided not to ask cause he already knew why you were acting that way.
"Anyway, Chrollo called me in to notify me that I was needed for a mission." Shalnark continues. "He said he was going to send someone here to take my place but I don't know who."
"Who do you think it will be?" You inquire and he shrugs. "I hope it isn't Feitan, no offense to him."
"Why's that?" Shalnark asks.
"He's kinda... Unsettling." You answer. "Again, no offense cause everyone is different but I'm just not a big fan of his type."
Uvo looks at you then but looked away just as quickly.
"Anyway, I'm sure they'll arrive before dark. See you two in a few days." Shalnark says and headed out the door. When he was gone, you lay back on the couch, propping your feet up on the armrest and your head on Uvo's thigh.
"What now?" You ask him and he paused to think. "What sounds fun to you?" He opened his mouth to answer but you cut in first. "And it can't involve us going off and beating someone up or causing unnecessary damage."
"As long as you achieve your goals, any damage is allowed." He answers.
"Wow." You deadpan. "Should have been a poet."
He looks down at you for a moment and this close to him, you can see what shade of green his eyes actually are. Then you examine the rest of his face until you realize you were staring.
"Sorry..." You sit up. "I found a few card and board games under the bed if you want to play."
You say while standing. He nods in agreement.
As you walk to the bedroom to get the games, you could feel his eyes on your figure. What specifically it was he was looking at was anyone's guess.
Returning with a few of them, you set them on the table. "We have Jenga, Uno..." When he didn't say anything you continued to lay them out and stared at them. "Does Jenga sound good?"
He gets up and walks to the table while you take the blocks out of the container and began to stack them.
"Have you ever played this before?" You ask him while placing the last few blocks onto the tower. He shook his head. "You've never- what?" You ask. It was hard for you to believe such a thing because growing up, this was you and your mother's favorite game. Until she died... You push the thought away when he begins speaking.
"Shal is more of the card game type. I prefer physical games that involve-"
"Is everything always violence with you?" You inquire and that earns a chuckle from him.
"Yes."
You sigh and shake your head. "Anyway, we basically take turns, each of us pulling out one block from the tower per turn until it falls. Whoever makes it fall while pulling out a block loses." You explain. "I'll go first." You gently ease a loose block from the bottom of the tower out and set it aside. "Now its your turn."
While he searches for a spot, he asks, "What's the point of this exactly?"
"Its kinda a strategy game. You have to think about the blocks you're pulling and whether or not it'll make the tower topple." This was kinda ironic because you knew that if he were to merely blow on the tower it'd probably explode.
He eases a block out and sets it down. This game continued until he pulled a block out and the tower fell down onto the table.
"Whatever architect built the tower really needs to reconsider the fact that people are going to be taking it apart." He says.
"Technically-" you restack the tower. "That architect would be me."
You play another round and while it was your turn, he flicked the base of the tower and made it fall.
"Uvo you-" you think of the word. "Cheater!" You snap and tackle him. He used the momentum to fall back and then get on top of you, pinning you to the floor. His toothy grin was a little intimidating and you tried to pull away but he was too strong. But then you thought about it and how he treated you before. Anytime you were about to fall, he caught you with gentle hands. When Hisoka was getting a little close, he defended you. So the more you thought about it it occurred to you that he wouldn't hurt you.
Gently wriggling one hand from his grip, you raised it to gently cup his cheek to see what this violent, powerful man would do. He melted under the touch and his gaze softened. Maybe Shalnark was right? Maybe Uvo really did-
You pulled your and away as the hotel room door opened and he let you go, you scrambling back from him. Both of you looked to see the Troupe member who was assigned to come here. It was none other than...
