During high school I had a lot of friends, I knew a lot of people. I never felt close to anyone just because I felt like I didn't fit in here. But honestly everyone knew everyone in this town. My school only had 200 students. But I was stepping into new territory, a new state... California. I'm eighteen and starting college. And with moving comes the opportunity to have a fresh start.
It was the night before my flight. I had packed up my room. I sat on the floor thinking of all the memories I had in this room. My walls were painted black, overall it was a pretty dark room and sad looking. Turns out my mom was right, it was just a phase. Since my stuff was all packed up I had to sleep on the floor.

*The next morning*

I woke up with my back and neck all cramped up. I got up and took a shower, I didn't plan on wearing anything special, but I got dressed. I got my backpack and luggage ready. Everything that was boxed would be shipped later on. My mom, sister, and I got in the car. It was a forty minute drive to the airport so we all started reminiscing of old memories. I noticed my mom getting emotional. I squeezed her hand ensuring her that I'd be fine. Ever since our dad left us I became a lot closer to my mom, so I understand how difficult this is for her. I helped her raise my little sister. Leaving my sister was pretty hard too, she's about enter middle school so I feel guilty leaving like this but I had to. Summer just started so I could've stayed home until school started but I wanted to enjoy summer in a new state. Plus, I want to get the hang of how things work over there.
We got to the airport made it through check in and everything. We got to my gate. We sat down on the seats next to the gate. I started getting nervous, I've never lived on my own before. Usually any other person would move into a dorm WITH a roommate but my mom wanted me to have my own place. I didn't want to think negatively so I looked over to watch a video my sister was watching. They were these twins.
"Who are they?" I asked
"You don't know who the Dolan twins are?!" My sister looked so shocked that I didn't know who they were but I'm not a social media type of gal.
"Who's the one on the right? He's kinda cute." I was intrigued
"Ethan. He's the older one, by twenty minutes to be exact. I'm personally on Grayson's lane though" She kept blabbing on like I cared.
"Vanessa, you're twelve. Shouldn't you be playing with dolls?" I giggled
"You know, Y/N... they live in California. Maybe you'll meet them!" She sounded excited
She started giving me a headache. My gate was being called for departure. I said my goodbyes and once I turned my back I didn't want to look back. I slept the whole plane ride and when I woke up we were already landing. Getting off the plane, I started making my way towards baggage claim. I could hear someone yelling.
"MOVE OUT OF THE WAY!"
I looked back to see a man full on sprinting. It all was happening so fast I didn't even realize what was going on and by the time I did, the security had already tackled him. When security picked him up I then realized he was naked. My virgin eyes have never been so traumatized. LA is something else. Well, here's to strange beginnings!
