I waited a few seconds before saying "Colton, I should probably go now. I'll come back after my mother and I get done shopping." I waited for his reply while standing up. He sighed. "okay then." he put his boxers on as I grabbed the extra clothes from my bag. As I put on the long sleeved shirt, I thanks god in my head. Hopefully, I wouldn't do anything wrong, and the rest of the week could be this nice. After I was completely dressed, I gave Colton a quick hug and kiss then went downstairs. I started worrying. What will mom say? Surely she'll notice this time. What am I going to say??? Coltons mother greeted me with a warm, knowing smile. A sad smile. Her eyes flickered to my bruise. Surely she heard me last night? I panicked as she gave me a hug and told me to be careful on the roads. My panic subdued. She didn't bring it up. I thanked her and slipped out the door to greet my mustang.

He drivto my house was a silent one. Full of thinking... Too many thoughts. My cell phone rang 'drops of jupiter' my favorite song."hello?" my moms voice was on the other end. "hey honey where are you?" her voice was full of worry. "don't worry mom, I'm almost there." her Voice was calmer when she replied "okay. Did you have fun at olivia's?" I swallowed the lump in my throat and prayed she wouldn't hear the shakines in my voice. "yeah mom... I- I had a lot of fun." it was silent for a few seconds, but my mother relied. "you know, you should go out more. That was the first time you've spent the might at olivias in

A month."

"I know mom, but just think, after christmas, I'll be going to New York with the theater group. It'll be my first new years away from home." she sighed. "ugh, McKenna, baby, don't remind me. I'm going to be spending new years crying my eyes out." that's my mom for you, she finally decided to let me go to New York. "mom don't worry... I'll be home in a few Kay? Love you bye." I hung up before she replied. I turned into a gas station and parked. Looking around, I was glad that I didn't see anyone I knew. I pulled out my makeup bag and went to work, trying to cover the huge bruise on my cheek. Ten minutes later, you could still fAintly see the bruise, but it was covered enough. I started my baby, and drove home.

***at the mall***

mom and I went our seperate ways. I towards a dress shop, and mom towards a mens store. I picked up three dresses; all different colors, brands, and materials. One was a teal color, short, and had white beads embroidering intricate swirls on the chest area, then flowing out at the hips, and ending a few inches above my knees. This one was my favorite. I met my mom at build a bear workshop where we made my neice a fairly bear. Then we went around the mall, holding a list of everyone in outlr family and picking each of them something. Finally, after three or four hours, it was three oclock. I was exhausted, and all I wanted was to go home and go to sleep.
