Y/N's POV

Tears spilled out of my eyes as I rushed out of the apartment, my body trembling from the emotional outburst I'd just had.

Wiping my tears with the back of my hand, I fell into a steady path along the pavement when a car stopped right in front of me.

The man in the driver's seat gave me a cold look and I glared back at him stubbornly.

He wasn't supposed to be driving so recklessly, especially in a residential area.

My anxiety grew as I saw him unbuckle his seat belt and step out of the car but I stood my ground, grasping my hands together to avoid looking nervous.

I had had enough of my family's shit already and was certainly not in the mood to deal with another heartless man after I'd found out that my father had a mistress, the reason my mother was always mourning.

The past few days had been beyond difficult for me.

From having to serve men like Woods who drooled at the very sight of women, witnessing a possible murder and almost escaping death to meeting this hotheaded man today, everything was going wrong.

I took in a deep breath as the man walked towards me swiftly.

The mask on his face prevented me from making out any of his features except strong dark eyes which stood out against the porcelain skin of his face.

"Where's the USB?" The man snapped and a shudder passed through me. His voice seemed vaguely familiar and I felt my stomach turning with a strange premonition.

"What do you mean?" I blurted, looking at him directly. "What USB?" I frowned as the man leaned over me, frowning in a very intimidating way.

"Now, let's not act ignorant, sweetheart." He hissed. "Tell me about the USB." He commanded and despite my angry confusion, I couldn't help but notice the bored drawling tone lacing his words as if killing me wouldn't be a difficult task for him if I failed to produce the said USB.

The chances of my survival seemed low considering that not only I didn't know who he was but I also wasn't aware of any USB being in my possession either.

Finding no other way, I tried to explain to him the situation.

Perhaps he had mistaken me for somebody else.

"But I don't even know what you're talking about." I explained desperately. "I really, truly have no idea which USB you're talking about and I think that you've clearly mistaken me for-"

The man cut me off with an impatient noise. "I have got the right person." He retorted. "I'm sure of it. Now, if you'd cooperate and hand over my stuff to me nicely, it'll only be better for you." He spoke calmly, regarding me closely with his detached eyes.

The look in his eyes made me heat up. It wasn't completely devoid of emotion, nor was it one of passion.

His eyes simply burned with an intensity that I couldn't explain and they held promises that I could never forget.

"You're that man from the other night." I breathed in awe. "Aren't you?"

For the first time since our meeting, I felt his eyes lower almost as if he was afraid of his identity being disclosed and I smiled in triumph.

"I'm right, aren't I?" I asked. "You're the one who left that jacket on my legs, am I right?" I emphasised to get my point across...that I'd recognised him-even if I couldn't see his face.

The man let out a frustrated sigh. "I really don't have time for this, Miss. Where's the jacket?"
He asked urgently. I frowned and looked at my feet.

It wasn't that I didn't want to return the jacket, but the fact that I'd left the jacket back at home thinking that I was never going to meet him again and now I had to take him there to return what belonged to him, bothered me.

I wasn't in a position to bring people to my house. It was located in a far-off alley in the countryside and I didn't want anybody to think low of me.

Especially not a mysterious stranger who I'd met just a day ago.

"I-It's lying safely at my house." I answered, not meeting his gaze out of embarrassment.

The man cocked an eyebrow. "Why do I think you're lying?" He crossed his arms, not looking away from my face.

I reddened. "I'm not lying. It really is at my house. I just can't-"

"Take me to your house then." He cut me off smoothly. "If you can't give it to me now, take me to your house and I'll take it myself."

"But-But I can't-" I tried to explain as the man advanced and grabbed my elbow roughly.

"Sorry for the manhandling but I'm really not in the mood to hear more excuses." He said firmly and dragged me towards his car.

Pushing me in, he shut the door on my face and going to the other side, slid into the driver's seat.

"Fasten your seatbelt." He commanded. "And direct me to your house. I don't want to hear another word from your mouth because if not for the USB, I'd already have killed you for speaking so much." He muttered, throwing me a heated glare.

I swallowed. "Okay," But I couldn't hold myself back from asking. "But what's so important about-"

The car halted with a jerk as the man slapped his hand onto my mouth. "I SAID SHUT THE FVCK UP!" He yelled and sped up the car.

"We're here." I muttered, partly out of embarrassment and partly out of fear. "My mother will be sleeping so try not to disturb her." I did not look at him and got out of the car.

"I do not plan on making my presence known either." He muttered drily, breathing down on my neck as I unlocked the door to my house.
"I'll get the jacket and be out before you even know it."

We walked in and I made him wait outside my room.

"I'll bring your jacket. Check for that USB or whatever before you leave-" I muttered sullenly. "I do not wish to see you again."

The man shrugged and waited as I went in. As expected, the jacket was hanging safely in the corner of my room and I realised that I hadn't even had a good look at it.

In bright sunlight, it looked slightly worn out from use, the leather soft and shiny.

"Here." I thrust the jacket into his hands the moment I walked out. "You saved me and now I'm paying you back. You yelling at me was out of line but then again, you saved me the other night so I'll let that go too." I spoke as he didn't seem to pay me any attention.

He checked the jacket thoroughly and fished out a little object, his complexion lightening.

"I guess you really were just an innocent civilian." His voice was muffled as he inserted the USB into a small phone like thing, checking it. "I've got what I wanted." He nodded, shoving the USB back into his pocket. "I'll take my leave." He bowed, surprising me.

"Don't go falling over from buildings while I'm gone." His voice seemed light, almost playful.

"I'm thankful you're not on the opposite team, Miss Y/N or I'd have regretted saving you." He mock saluted and went on his way, leaving a thousand questions burning in my brain.
