Servant: Hello everyone, it's ChaosServant12345.

Sanctus: And also Sanctus Nihilus. And welcome to the new home of Ultimate Fictional Warrior.

Servant: For anyone new here, let us explain a few things. I'm sure many of you have heard of the famous web series DEATH BATTLE, which is all about researching the abilities of various characters from pop-culture and then making them fight to the death to see who would win.

Sanctus: This series was a complete hit, and a few people on the internet were inspired to due their own battles in a similar vein as what Death Battle is doing. Particularly, we come from the community that formed on DeviantArt.

Servant: This community was full of exceptionally talented people, with great passion for many of the characters they used in their fights. We were a part of that community, and while we didn't get very much work done, we still enjoyed some truly amazing fights made by some truly amazing people. Heck, two of them even landed jobs at DEATH BATTLE themselves!

Sanctus: Needless to say, everything was going all fine and dandy...until DeviantArt decided that they would force this new update called Eclipse on all of it's users on the 20th of May, 2020. This "Update" would include a new Literature Editor feature that was significantly inferior to the old one. Hell, it can't even save drafts, meaning you have to write what you want to write all in one sitting! Way to limit your user's creative freedom, DeviantArt.

Servant: When DeviantArt announced this, the VS Community there flipped, since it meant that their means of creating content would be completely botched and neutered. This lead to a lot of people jumping ship and seeking alternate methods for continuing their work. And that's how we got here.

Sanctus: We chose to move our series to this site because a) this is where Servant actually started off as a VS Writer, and b) Wattpad has features that should allow us to make decent replications of what we could make on DeviantArt. And unlike their new Literature Editor, this will actually let us save drafts and come back later.

Servant: Since this is a New Beginning for the series, we will start by uploading an old fight that was originally written in late 2017 and what I consider to be the turning point of Ultimate Fictional Warrior, with only a few minor edits. This is to show new readers what was possible on DeviantArt and migrating viewers how well our old style translates on this site.

Sanctus: After that is reuploaded, it will be nothing but new fights from here on out...mainly because Servant wasn't able to finish a new fight after that one was completed. Nice work ethic, dude.

Servant: Ignoring that, I would also like to make the rules I follow clear. This is so we're all on the same page in case people think I'm being biased. Here are the rules of Ultimate Fictional Warrior:

1. Combatants only know about each other if they do know each other in their official, canon universes. Meaning 99.9% of the time, combatants on this show will not know who the other is. Even if they did know each other, no prep time will be allowed.

2. A combatant wins via killing their opponent, knocking their opponent out, disabling their powers for the prolonged future (ie. at least a few hours, long enough to reasonably say the fight is over and they won), or by trapping them in a way that they are unable to escape. This is to keep everyone featured on this show as in-character as possible.

3. Characters used, especially ones with multiple iterations, will be composited to include the best traits of each iteration, unless said iteration is drastically different from other incarnations. Meaning that feats from questionably canon sources and alternate continuities will be taken into account, as long as it's reasonable for said character to be able to perform it in canon. Though non-canon crossovers will not be taken into account, since they often equalize much weaker and stronger characters for the purposes of gameplay and story.

4. To get as many abilities as possible, a warrior will be shown at their latest depiction or at the oldest age as an active combatant, so long as it is within their prime.

5. No outside help will be allowed. This includes power ups that the character needs others to activate every time they need it and especially other characters directly interfering with the battle in any significant way. The only exceptions will be AI companions, summons, tamed beasts, and intel that they canonically have at all times (like Cortana from Halo, Bahamut from Final Fantasy, Pokemon, or Otacon from Metal Gear Solid.)

6. The fight itself does not determine the outcome, the research does. This is because it's very common that one character being used is significantly more powerful that the other, meaning a depiction of how a fight between the two would realistically go down would be very short and very boring. As such, a few liberties will be taken to make the fight itself more entertaining to read, but will still try to reflect the analysis as much as possible.

7. If one of the rules is being bent or ignored for whatever reason, then it must apply to both combatants. For example, if we decided to partially ignore Rule 1 and give one character prep time, then we must give the other character the exact same amount of prep time. As such, if any rules are being bent or ignored for an episode, then we must make that clear at the beginning of the episode.

Servant: These are the rules we follow for each and every episode. Also let it be known that we don't really take requests, and would only like to use characters we are personally interested in. I hope you can all understand.

Sanctus: But with all of that said, he's ChaosServant12345 and I'm Sanctus Nihilus.

Servant: And welcome once again to the new home of Ultimate Fictional Warrior.
