I was now in flight or fight mode. I waited nervously for the person to show himself. There was a halt. Everywhere was silent now. The person had stopped singing.

A moment later the voice continued to sing but it wasn't heading in my direction anymore. It was retreating. I let out a relieved sigh. It was as though my silent prayers had been answered.

I walked to the place I had kept my crox on the ground. I quickly slipped it on putting my flashlight in my deep pocket. I began to walk around letting the bright moon light up my path. I checked my wrist watch only to see that it was a quarter past one. Wow, I still had a long night ahead.

I hummed to myself as I moved around aimlessly. I'll probably leave when I feel sleepy, or not. I had already walked past the river and was climbing up a steep little hill when I heard singing, again. I listened closely. It was the same voice I heard earlier.

Feeling a little bit brave, I decided to find out where the singing was coming from. I braced myself and continued my walk up the hill.

"This person definitely knows his way around here" I thought to myself.

Stones and pebbles rolled down the hill as I journeyed upwards. It was a very arduous task climbing up. The singing became louder.

I felt as though I was climbing stairs without railings. One slight push to my left and that could be the end of me.

Finally I got to the top of the hill. It felt so strange. It was completely different from where I was down by the river. The moon looked way bigger and brighter from up here. This place just became even better from this view. I turned back to look down at the river. It was so beautiful. I'm definitely going to camp out here tonight, even though I didn't have any camping gear.

Now I could fully concentrate on the voice. The singing was much clearer. I slowly and quietly followed the voice not wanting to be heard or bring any attention to myself.

It was actually a deep, calm, sweet voice. If only I hadn't panicked earlier and almost piss my pants I would have known. I liked this voice. I needed to see who it was.

The words were very soothing too. I walked slowly, trying to listen to the lyrics of the song.

Just a few more steps and I would find out who this person was. A huge rock was all that stood between me and the mysterious angel singing those words.

When you try your best but you don't succeed
When you get what you want but not what you need
When you feel so tired but you can't sleep
Stuck in reverse...

I crouched really low taking a peep from behind the rock. I moved as stealthily as I could. I was finally able to get a clearer view of the singer even though it was a side view. His hair was sticking out in every which way and he wore some oversized clothes. There was a little fire in front of him which cast a very eerie shadow on his profile.

When you lose something you can't replace
When you love someone but it goes to waste
Could it be worse?

Lights will guide you home
And ignite your bones
And I will try to fix you...

He sounded really sad and... empty. Sigh. I know that feeling. Bracing myself once more and standing up straight I decide to approach him. I honestly didn't want to meet him.

For all I know he could be going through shit or planning to do something, I don't care, no one does but, I was really curious.

I walked towards him, nervously tugging at the sleeves of my hoodie. He was sitting on some large piece of wood so I took a seat beside him clearly keeping my distance. I took a quick glance at him. He was still singing quite alright but he didn't even acknowledge my presence. Either that or he was so lost in the wordings of that song to even notice me. I listened to his singing anyways. It was calming. I stared hard at the fire that was slowly burning in front of me.

Tears stream down your face
When you lose something you can't replace
Tears stream down your face
And I

Tears stream down your face
I promise you I will learn from my mistake
Tears stream down your face
And I

I stared intently at the fire. It reminded me of something I never wanted to remember. I tried so hard not to. Now, I just couldn't. All the memories came flooding right back. Kicking me so hard in the gut, slapping me in the face, taunting me. I couldn't stop them now. I didn't know why I had no control over them now. I felt so weak. I hugged myself really tightly.

My walls slowly disintegrated. I didn't even know when the tears started sliding down my cheeks. This was the first time in seven years that I had cried. The first time I let myself feel this much emotion. Why? I let them roll down freely. I didn't stop them. My heart clenched tightly and I was almost out of breath. I kept on staring at the fire crying silently, still listening to him sing.

Lights will guide you home
And ignite your bones
And I will try to fix you

His tone signalled the end of the song and I turned to look at him, tears still rolling down my cheeks. In that moment he slowly turned his head to my direction and looked at me noticing me for the first time. His eyes were very tired and sad, but, I know those eyes very well.

"Cameron?" I muttered
