"Rise Entertainment Agency reveals their ambassador.."
Jieun saw the news first thing in the morning, a few days after the contract signing. She knew it will be out sooner or later but since she has been busy with shooting for different ads since then and just got a break today, she almost forgot about it. Jieun assumed she'll have to start the campaign soon. She just didn't expect it to be today.
She started out her day with a yoga session and a quick cold shower right after to freshen up. Music can be heard all throughout her flat, her shoulders bobbling up and down in rhythm with the beat. As much as the music makes her want to dance, she never did, not even once.
Opening her fridge, she grabbed an apple for her breakfast. A typical morning go to food for her on days that she's resting. She's too lazy to cook and so, most of the time she just orders in some food to enjoy and relax.
What she loves about her rest days was the fact that she can finally clean up. Since she's too busy, most days her flat's a mess. She used to get it clean, but lately she finds it relaxing to clean it up on her own.
Music still blasting loudly, she started to clean up her place. There's not much to clean today since it's not been long since she last cleaned. But still, she started doing the chores.
Jieun picked up every paper on the floor, threw those useless ones and fixed on the mini table those useful ones. She put her dirty clothes on her laundry washer to wash, arranged her clean clothes on her closet and fixed her messy bed. She cleaned everything she can clean, fixed everything she can fix and washed all the dirty laundry she had while all the while humming to the music playing on her flat.
She cleaned her place for about an hour or so, then rested on the couch with some drink to refresh. While resting, a certain box caught her eyes. The box sat at the far end of the shelf in front of her. She tried to remember where the box came from but can't seem to remember. Curiosity getting the best of her, she took a sip on her drink and went to fetch the box.
She put the box on top of the table as she sat on the couch. Opening the box, a note fell out of it. As she's picking up, her phone rang.
It was In na, her best friend.
"Yeoboseyo?" Jieun answered as she's picking up the note that fell.
"Yah!" In na shouted at other end.
"Wae?" She asked absentmindedly. Her attention focused on the word written on the note, "Memories".
"You didn't tell me you're endorsing Rise now?"
"Huh?"
"Yah! You're not even listening Jieun!"
"I am. But you keep on yelling." Jieun argued, but she really isn't.
"And I didn't get the chance to tell you, the news was already out when I got a free day." She continued to explain.
"I'm just at the other door and you can't even drop by to tell me?" In na asked exasperatedly.
"Inna, you know you can drop by now right? Come on over when you're free and I'll tell you everything. Arasseo?" Jieun said.
She heard a squeal on the other line and chuckled at Inna's antics. Taking that as a sign of agreement, Jieun ended the call.
Going back to what was occupying her attention, she inspected what's on the box. It was a pile of pictures. She picked up the stacks of pictures within and looked one by one.
Browsing each picture brings back memories from when she was a trainee. That's right, a trainee. She was supposed to debut 6 years ago. But it never happened.
The pictures were all from her trainee days up until her hospitalization days and finally her first walk on a runway. She felt nostalgic while browsing the photos, but there's a particular photo that caught her attention.
It was a group photo with her and 3 other girls along with 3 idols that visited and renewed a contract with their agency then. Looking closer, she didn't expect to see someone in particular in the picture.
Kim Soo Hyun, CEO of Rise Entertainment.
She knew he was a former idol, but she didn't expect him to be in her old photos.
This is bad, Jieun thought. Although she was a maknae back then and her features are definitely matured now, she still looks the same as before.
She's not trying to hide her past or anything, but she's afraid that instead of focusing on her work, the media would start digging about her trainee days, something that hasn't been fully discovered and disclosed by the media.
Still can't believe at what she discovered, Jieun stared at the photo as if in trance.
"Omo!" She yelled in surprise when her phone rang for the second time this day.
Checking it up to see who it is before answering, "Yeoboseyo?"
"Jieunah, you're at home right?" It was her manager.
"Ne." She answered.
"Wae?"
"There's been changes in your schedule, you have a shoot within an hour."
"Mwo?!" She didn't know if she heard him right.
"You have a shoot within an hour." Hanteo said again before sighing.
"It's the shoot for Rise, the initial schedule sent was apparently not the approved one. So better get ready, ok?" He explained.
"Arasseo. Are you gonna pick me up or chipmunk will?" Jieun asked.
At her age, she never learned to drive and she's not even interested in a slightest bit.
"Uhm yeah, about that.." Hanteo trailed off with a nervous laugh.
"Oppa." Jieun warned him. She's not liking the tone from him.
"You see, uhm. I mean uhm, just don't kill me alright?"
"I'm going to kill you if you don't tell it now." Jieun snapped at him.
Hanteo nervously laugh on the other line. His laughter laced with panic, at times like this, it feels like his life is on the line. Jieun's rarely mad or angry, sure she maybe annoyed but lately, Hanteo felt like he's getting on her nerves too much. Although this one is not his fault, but he can't help but feel nervous.
"Well, neither of us is picking you up. Soohyunssi is picking you up." Hanteo hurriedly said.
"Mwo?!"
"Waeyo?!"
"He said he wanted to apologize for the conflict it caused so he's going to escort you on his own." He further explained.
"We can't really do anything about it, he's on his way there when he called us."
Trying so hard to calm down, Jieun breathed a few times, exhaling loudly each time. She completely forgot what she was staring at awhile ago now.
"Arasseo arasseo." She unwillingly said.
"But Oppa, do me a favor." She stated just as Hanteo was about to drop the call.
"What is it?"
"Look into Soohyun's idol days."
"Wae?"
"Because I just saw him in one of my old photos back when on my trainee days." She simply said.
