Kelianne's POV

I stand in the elevator, going up to my shared apartment with my boyfriend. My heart pounds in my chest as I exit the elevator making my way closer to the door. I open the apartment door and am met with the sight of my boyfriend of two years, pacing around the living room.

"Tayler, is everything okay?" I ask as I set my keys and phone on the counter beside the door. Tayler looks up from the ground to look at me. "Did something happen at the station?"

"No," Tayler replies, shaking his head, making his way towards me. "Kelianne, can we talk?"

"Uh, sure. I need to talk to you about something anyway," Kelianne responds, smiling lightly. Tayler nods, and they make their way to the couch. The two sit beside each other, angling their bodies so they can face each other. "What's up?"

"I can't do this anymore. I'm sorry," Tayler says, after a moment of gathering his thoughts. I shake my head, trying to make sense of his words. Tears begin to fill my eyes as I try to hold them back. I am unsuccessful as a few begin to fall.

"I- What?" I manage to stutter out. Tayler looks down at his hands, refusing to meet my eyes.

"I fell out of love with you. I don't want to be with you anymore," Tayler says. As if that explains everything. I shake my head, standing up, walking to the door. Forgetting all about the yellow folder that held my news.

"I- um. I'll just leave then," I say, opening the door. I don't even think about grabbing my phone or my keys, I just want to get out of there. I close the door and immediately begin to sob. I hear a sound behind the door. I know Tayler well enough to know he is debating coming outside just to make sure I am okay. Tayler begins to fiddle with the door handle I sprint away. Ignoring the shouts of my name from behind me. I don't look back as I keep running until I don't know where I am.

"Teagan, no. You can't have another cookie," A male voice says, drifting from the inside of the cafe I am standing in front of. I had been running for what felt like hours but was probably less than ten minutes. I walk into the cafe feeling drained but knowing I have to call someone. I ran out without my phone, and now I am homeless and jobless. I hadn't been able to tell Tayler that I lost my job yet because he was on a forty-eight-hour shift. It wouldn't be right to stress him out more than he already was, especially with that job. I sit down at one of the stools as a man approaches me. "Hi, how can I help you?"

"Could I just borrow a phone by any chance?" I ask, feeling defeated. The man nods, promising to be back in a few seconds. I put my head down as a wave of sickness hits me.

"Here!" A little girl shouts. In her small hands, she holds a fake phone from a playset. I smile lightly, taking the small object in my bigger hands. I pretend to dial a number as the little girl giggles. Slowly my tears begin to dry as I play with the little girl.

"I am so sorry. I went in the back to grab my phone, but then I saw that this one," the man explains quickly. Gesturing to the toddler on his hip. Reaching into his back pocket, the man pulls out his phone. Promptly sliding it across the bar. The man bounces the toddler around, bringing my attention to the little girl, "decided to wake up from her nap. I'm sorry, my name is Matthew."
