Dark Paradise - Chapter 2 - Vermilion
A minimalist set up of a double bed sits beside a dusty desk, lamp left unplugged atop the ajar cabinet. "This place." You whisper, afraid that someone might hear despite the isolation of each cabin. "It's a little-" "weird?" Mark finishes your sentence, locking your bedroom door. "It'll just be until Monday, then we'll hire a tow truck and get out of here." He moves over, nothing more marvelous on the pinwheel of colours than the shade of violet he made you feel, his touch warm and tasteful against the monotone of the room you'd been beckoned to. "We'll be home again, playing video games and taking late night trips to the supermarket for all the cravings you get before bed." He twirls his hand on the nape of your neck, nuzzling his nose against the cold skin there. "I need a hot shower; I'll be out in a minute." You fondle his wavy hair for a moment before grabbing some clothes from his backpack, noticing there was no outlet to plug in your charger.Mark removed his coat, pushing up against the radiator before turning his head towards you. "What's taking you so long? I need to shower too." You give him a playful eye roll, closing the bathroom door and turning the faucet, watching the reminiscent droplets equate to the rain you'd remembered what felt like seconds ago on your body. The utmost delight of warmth captivates your being, filling you up like a home cooked meal, feeling the invisible coating of grime untangle from your extended tresses, sloping from your skin as it simmers under the heated ocean. Your hands palm at the dark fabric of your boyfriend's hoodie, an oversized fit slumping from your narrow shoulders in comparison to his as you comb through your hair, drying it with the snow-white towels rolled up amongst other bathroom utensils. you side-track your lengthy pause, grabbing the travel brush and tending to your untamed curls, knowing they'd frizz up if they had become dry before being tended to.
"took you long enough." Mark moans, chuckling as you nudge his shoulder. You flop like a ragdoll down on the bed, back arching at the unforeseen creek beneath your spine. "Mark?" You presume your voice goes unheard, greeting the white plastered wood with a lenient knock. He responds, the water shutting off at the sound of his voice. "I'm going to fill out those documents so we can sleep in peace." Silence seemed to coexist for a moment between the two of you, the scratch of the window pane close to an echo behind you. "I think we should go together." He suggests, you shake your head, leaning against the frame. "It'll be quicker if I do it now, I'll be fine." You can tell he contemplates it on his chest for a moment, before an agreeing nod comes from his lips, the shower head only turning back on once he hears you shut the bedroom door, footsteps scuttling down the empty hall. Your nerves are compliant to your body language as you trudge shyly, quietly into the communal area, the idea of somewhere for everybody juxtaposing at the shrill uninhabited atmosphere. "Just you I see?" Your body convoluted at the sheer barrel of words. "You look like you've seen a ghost, my, sorry for startling you." You can only imagine the colour drained from your skin in that moment, nails digging into your palms before releasing at the sight of the familiar character. Jungkook.
"I was wandering if I could fill out those forms whilst my boyfriend showers." Your voice is solidified, straight to the reason despite the lack of confidence in your timbre. "Ah, here we are." He dips into the reception, handing you the documents with a Cheshire curve to his lips. "Thanks." You mumble, perching atop the rather art deco sofa planted before a vintage coffee table, the feeling soft against the back of your knees. Jungkook comes back with a tray in his hands, an intricate tea set placed for what you presumed the both of you set on the once empty table. "Are you a fan of Jasmine?" He raises a brow, pouring the steaming contents of the finicky tea pot, the soft pink petals decorating the delicate glass imprinting in your memory. "from time to time." You hum, answering honestly. You thank him, he assures it was no trouble with a silent nod, stirring his beverage with a tea spoon. "How much will this be?" You peel through the papers, brows furrowing. "Don't be silly, you don't need to pay considering these measly circumstances."
