Brooke
Ugh. English, I thought , grabbing my books from my locker. At least it's my last class of the day. I slam my locker shut, and on the other side of the door, leaning against the wall, is Jason. I groan. Naturally, as the cheerleader/dance captain and the captain of the football team/student-body president, we should be together, right? Wrong. "Can I help you?" I glared at him. "Geez," he put his hands up in defense "I'm sorry for trying to start a conversation." I sighed and crossed my arms "Apology accepted." I started to walk away. " Wait up!" He matched my pace. I started to walk faster, he walked faster. "What do you want, Jason?" "A date." he answered. I stopped at the door of my English class.
I went to sit down in the front of the class next to Olive. Now, I know what you're thinking, why would we sit in front if we hated the class? Well, the teacher tends to look more towards the back, where his desk is, so I am less likely to get called on. I pulled out my materials and got started on today's prompt. "OMG, did Jason walk you to class? That's so sweet!" She squealed. More like sickening. Olive, like the rest of the people in this school, thinks Jason is a nice, hot, and not a total player. And I agree, Jason is nice. And undeniably hot-with his sandy blond hair and bright green eyes. However, he's still a douchebag who made out with a quarter of the girls in our class. I put my pencil down and looked at her, a look of annoyance on my face." No, it's not. It's annoying and I hate it." Olive rolled her eyes, we go through this almost every week. " Brooke, just give him a chance. Can't you see how hard he's trying? For God's sake, he bought you a cupcake last week! Just let him take you out on a date!" I gave her an even bigger eye roll and went back to doing my work.
Jason
The bell rang, signifying that school was over. I packed up my stuff. There was no football practice today, as the coach had a date tonight. So I decided to meet up with my friend Ethan. Ethan is the school's wide receiver, so we are pretty close. Him being Brooke's twin is just an added bonus. I sighed. Brooke. Ethan turned to look at me, " My sister again?". "Yeah." This time it was his turn to sigh " Dude, I don't get it. You have girls practically dropping to their knees in front of you. Why her?" I saw her get into her car. "Why not, she's smart and beautiful, with her long brown hair. And so sweet to everyone, except for me of course. She looks at me like I'm her worst enemy . I don't know, there's just something about her." I looked back at Ethan, he had a smirk on his face that low-key made me want to punch him. "What?" I asked. He laughed. "You really like her, don't you?" " No shit." I said, running a hand through my hair. " Fine,'' he said " I'll talk to her." I looked up in surprise." You will?" He nodded. " but you owe me one. And if you hurt her, I kill you like The Law-Abiding Citizen " I nodded, then smiled quietly.

Soon after I got home and did my homework, I heard the front door open and . I popped up. Ethan's home. I walked down stairs to see Ethan turning on the TV. I sat beside him to watch. " How was practice?" I asked, keeping my eyes on the TV. We are watching Wipe Out. " Didn't have practice, Coach had a date." "Okay so what'd you do?" He sighed. "I hung out with Jason" "Cool." I said, my eyes still not leaving the TV. "Cool? You're okay with it?" He asked, a little shocked. "Yeah," I said calmly, " I don't care that you hung out with your teammate. Even if that teammate is a total f-boy." Ethan turned off the TV and faced me. "Come on Brooke, he's not bad. He really likes you." I crossed my arms and turned to face him. No, he doesn't. What he wants is to screw me like he did half of the girls in our class. I'm not going" I turned the TV back on. Ethan turned it right back off. "Those are rumors." He explained. " Rumors stem from some kind of truth." I shot back with a glare and leaned back on the couch. Ethan sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose." So he screwed a few girls. Big deal. But no guy-and I mean no guy, Brooke- chases after you for six months and looks like a lovesick puppy in front of his friends unless he's serious."
Now it was my turn to sigh. I sat lotus pose on the couch. " Yeah, serious about getting in my pants." He rolled his eyes. " Seriously , Brooke. One date.- How about this? You go out with him on Saturday, and I'll take you and Olive shopping on Sunday. My treat." I pondered this for a minute. Ethan hates shopping. "Fine. I'll go....but only if me and Olive get sushi after. And he has to plan it." " Deal." Ethan held out his hand "Deal." We shook on it. Ethan shook his head. "God. I can't believe I just convinced my sister to go out with a guy. And my best friend at that." I laughed." Yeah, that is kinda weird." I yawned "Alright, I'm going to bed. Goodnight." I walked up the stairs. "Goodnight," he called back and turned on the TV. Why the hell did I just agree to that. I thought. I'll give him this date. That's it, just one date.
Jason
I met Ethan at his locker before the first period the next day. "So, how'd it go?" I asked, anxious to find out what happened with Brooke. "Good morning to you too, Jason. I'm great, thanks for asking." I rolled my eyes. "Did she say yes?" Ethan's face grew serious. " She called you- and I quote- 'a total f-boy,'" I sighed, of course she did. "However, she did agree to go on a date with you on Friday. She-" I didn't hear anything
That he said, something about shopping and sushi. I didn't care. I'm going on a date with Brooke. I'm going on a date with Brooke. I'm- "Jason!" Ethan yelled, snapping me out of my trance. " I'm sorry. What?" Ethan jabbed his finger into my chest. "Look, you've only got one shot at this. I barely convinced her to go on this one with you. Don't mess it up." I nodded. "Trust me, I know."
I decided to talk to Brooke during practice. I waited until the coach gave us a water break, then made my way over to where the cheerleaders were practicing their routines. "Hey, Brooke!" I called out from half way across the field. She turned to face me, then told her squad to take a 5 minute break. She walked over to me , meeting in the middle of the field. "What do you want?" She hissed, crossing her arms. "I want to know what finally made you agree to do this." I smirked. She frowned, "What do you mean 'Finally'? You've never asked me out before." She shifted, her eyebrows now raised. I shook my head, shocked. "Let me get this straight," I took a step back. "Had I asked you straight up, you would've said yes?" "Nope." she popped the 'p'. "I would've laughed in your face and walked away." She started to walk away. "You know you still haven't answered my question. What made you decide to give me a chance?" She turned back to me. "Ethan promised to take me and Olive shopping and to get sushi." Ahh, that explains it. Brooke loves sushi, and Ethan hates shopping. The Coach blew his whistle, signifying that our break was over. " Pick me up at two." She said, as she walked back to her squad. I watched her for a little bit, then jogged back to continue practice.
