As she sits there and wonders about how her life could have been different she always goes back to the same story. It always had the same boy, same place, and same ending. Why couldn’t her life have been different? She often wondered what life would have been like if she hadn’t gotten on Facebook that day and answered a message.

Maci got home from work, slung her bag onto the floor as she sat down at her computer. She did what she usually did when she got online. www.facebook.com logged on and checked to see what was going on in everyone else’s life because she wanted nothing more than to escape her own reality.  Today was no different than any other. Or so Maci thought.

Carter writes: Hey! I haven’t seen you in ages! How have you been? Suddenly Maci was confused. Carter, Carter… hmm “I know that name from somewhere! No way it could be the same person!”

Maci wrote: I’m good. Do I know you from somewhere?

Carter replies: Yes! You spent a lot of time at my parents when you were little, you grandmother and my mom were best friends.

Maci: OMG!! How are you! Ahh!! Heres my number I’d love to chat! I have so much work to do!

Maci offline.

“Could it really be him?” She thought to herself as her phone beeped with a text. Text after text came in and they talked for hours. It was well into the middle of the night before she realized that she not only was getting on a plane for Colorado tomorrow but she hadn’t even packed yet. Carter was too good to be true she thought to herself as she got out three business suits and placed them in a garment bag. Maci went over to her dresser and pulled out her favorite hot pink and black zebra bra and matching boy shorts, held them up and thought “these will do”. As she continued to pack more things for her trip she thought to herself “how after all these years could the man I fell in love with finally have noticed me?” She needed to get some sleep and with that last and final thought she let herself collapse on the bed and went off into dream land.

Two and a half hours later she arose from her deep slumber and got into a long hot shower, she was still in a state of disbelief when her phone rang. She turned off the shower and saw Carter flashing across her phone. She quickly swiped her finger across the phone and answered it.

“Hello.” She said

“hey how’s it going?” Carter replied.

“Good just leaving for Colorado Springs in about two hours, trying to finish packing, which I was distracted by last night” she said in a very flirtatious manner.

“What, No way! I have been meaning to get out there to see my kids!” he replied.

“Well, pack your bags we leave from the airport in two hours!” Maci over excitedly said!

Carter was confused on how this had all happened. As he quickly packed his bags and contunired to talk to Maci, a smile never left his face. Then he remembered he had to work and couldn’t take three days off to go to Colorado.

“Carter, if you need a better job with a better future than what you have please be here in an hour, if you enjoy slaving away, getting up at 2:45 in the morning and working your ass of for little money in the freezing ass cold, then stay” Maci ordered. “You don’t need to convince me” Carter said. And with that he left to meet Maci for what was sure to be the ride of his life.

Carter didn’t know anything about Maci really, just that she was gorgeous and going to Colorado Springs, which was where his kids Jenna and Adam were. The one place he wanted to be more than anywhere else and he was finally going. After three long months of not seeing them, he was headed to the airport.

“About time you show up!” Maci said as she smiled. She had never seen such a handsome, gorgeous, brown eyed man! The smiled on Carters face said that he felt the same well. As they got their boarding passes and went through security, smiles spread across their faces as they were off on an adventure.
