Part Three:
As they all gathered in the jeep and made their way towards their apartment, Jenna says “Dad, we’re starving!” Maci chimes in and asks “What would you like to eat?” Adam speaks up and says “Mcdonalds!!!” way to excited for words. Jenna guesses that they don’t get out much and just want normal food. Jenna drives through the drive through not wanting to stop until they get to the apartment because she doesn’t want Aimee to find them. Not that they are running or doing anything wrong, but doesn’t want the drama and just wants the kids to have a fun weekend with their dad.
After arriving at the apartment the kids are faciniated by the abstract art, the sheer size of the place and the feeling of home. Maci asks what they want to do this weekend during dinner. Maci says “ Do you think we could go into the mountians and explore?” Carter replies “Yes! That’s a great idea!” He also goes into explaining that he is sorry that he hasn’t been able to come up and see them because of work and stuff going on with their mother. The kids don’t care they are just happy that he is here. When there is a knock on the door.
The police had shown up with Aimee and are suggesting that Maci has kidnapped the children and is keeping them from her. Maci is shocked by the sudden apperance of them and wonders how they found out where they were and is curious to discover why Aimee would even accuse her of this!
“This is outrageous!” Jenna says. “Yeah, We’re here with our dad and mom was keeping us from him, telling us that he hated us and didn’t want to see us when she knew he was in town!”
The police turn to Aimee and ask if this is true. Aimee denies having any information that he was in fact in town and carter pulls out his cell phone and gets a pissed off look from Aimee.
“Look, here is the text between Aimee and myself.” Carter says. “She didn’t want me to have any contact with my children!”
“Jenna, Adam why don’t you go into the bedroom and watch TV It seems like the adults have some stuff to work out” Maci suggests.
“Don’t even SPEAK to my son and daughter” Aimee says in a very stern tone. “they are nothing to you but a plot in your game to get them to hate me!”
“I don’t even know you Aimee” Maci retorts. Then turns to Carter and says, “Carter, we will call my lawyer and have this settled before the week is out.”
By this point the cops are confused and wondering why they were brought here in the first place. Aimee then takes a swing at Maci and is interjected by the cops and arrested.
After they take Aimee from the apartment, Maci turns to carter with a look of awe on her face. “I’m so sorry Carter, I I I didn’t mean for this to happen.” Maci says as she hangs her head and turns away.
“Maci, You didn’t do anything wrong, you brought me here and gave me the chance to be apart of my childrens lives. I am grateful for that.” Carter says as he wraps his arms around maci and turns her towards him.
After a weekend of exploring, shopping, and spending time with the kids. A long talk is in order, decisions need to be made, and the battle that is before them will be a rocky one.
