Chapter 1: New Faces, New Beginnings

As I pulled up to the school driveway in my red BMW car, i noticed that there were a lot of empty spaces in the car parks, and wondered where everyone was. Of course there were a few students, but only about 14 of them were wandering around the fairly large parking lot. I pursed my lips in confusion and parked right at the entrance of the High School. Looking at the time on my phone again, i realized that i had at least an hour until school started at 8:30. I mentally face palmed and hit my head against the steering wheel.

Must have read the time on my bedroom clock wrong, or maybe it ran out of batteries again. I sighed frustratingly as i got my bag from the passenger side and closed the door shut behind me, locking it. I scanned the carpark for any familiar faces. But all i saw were a few parked cars (most of them belonging to the teachers), and a bunch of freshman students, eager for their first day at Hillridge High. I chuckled at the ones who had excited smiles on their faces. 'if only they knew' i thought to myself smirking.

Making my way towards the entrance, I was overcome with a feeling of dread. I sighed while closing my eyes. 'Another year of this Charlie, that's all it is, and then i'm gone' it wasn't the work or exams that was making me feel sick, it was how easy people are judge that made me sick. How easily they judge me when my brother went away. But nevertheless, I placed a cheerful smile on my face and pushed the large grey doors open and was greeted by three empty hallways. All heading in different directions.

I chose the one on the left, even though I had no business down here, I needed something to pass the time, so i decided to waste it on taking a walk around the school. I noticed that they did a new paint job on some of the hallways and they added the new cultural and language block. And after 6 minutes I was bored already, so I opened up my phone and texted my close friends to asked them where they were.

As I turned a corner, I noticed a group of people at the end of the hallway, all boys. And i instantly recognised the tall and built one with brown spiked up hair, Ashton Evans.

I paled, my eyes widening to the size of bread plates as i cursed under my breath. I turned so that my face was covered and did a one-eighty turn down the other hallway. And just as i rounded the corner, I went face first into someone's chest. A surprised gasp leaving my mouth as I leaped away from the man, giving me some distance between us. I breathed out a sigh of relief.

"I thought you were someone else" I mumbled as I tried to steady my pulse. The man chuckled, making me look up and for my dull grey eyes to land right on his dark blue ones.

"I'm sorry, i didn't mean to frighten you" he apologized with a smile, his voice sounded soft in a way, but very attractive and manly. I scanned him up and down and took in his appearance, he wore a onyx black blazer that fitted him tightly with matching pants, a white buttoned down shirt underneath and a dotted grey tie. His face was cleanly shaved and his dark brown hair was combed back, using gel to keep it in place. I could smell his cologne from here, and it was amazing.

I realized I had been staring at him like an idiot when a slow smirk made its way onto his face. I stood up strait and snapped myself back to reality.

"Yeah well, I didn't mean to run into you" i also apologized after checking him out, but then i crossed my arms the way a 5 year old would and a playful look appeared on my face. "And you didn't frighten me, you just took me by surprise is all" i said matter-of-factly, my smile never disappearing from my face. He tilted his head slightly and chuckled while shaking his head.

"Well before you bumped into me, i was searching for the arts block and i have seemed to have gotten myself lost" he admitted with an awkward laugh. Like he was embarrassed. Then he cleared his throat and said "Could you maybe show me where it is?". A small grin formed on my face.
