We were all sat in Manny's living room at 3pm waiting for him to spit it out. The air felt stiff and cold. Needless to say the tension in the room was thick enough to cut with a knife, no one had said a word since we arrived. Out of everyone I was probably the calmest, situations like this would come up every now and then for me. As for Wura? Well, since I picked her up she'd been silent, I rubbed her leg that she'd propped in between of mine, in a futile attempt to comfort her. She gave me a weak smile. It's not like she was about to break or something, she was more confused, angry and worried all at the same time.
"Roman, you're going to want to spit out whatever you have to say before I start moving mad." Nicole spat. Surprisingly, Nic who was usually the calm and collected one seemed ready to pop off most.
Isa, on the other hand, silently fumed. "Word, what I'm tryna figure out it why we are here, instead of with Lisa right now?" She chimed in.
Manny kissed his teeth. He out of everyone looked the worst, he still had his clothes on from last night, you could see brownish-reddish smudges on his shirt and his face looked fatigued. As if he hadn't slept all night, which was in fact the case since he had literally returned from the hospital a few minutes before we all arrived at his house.
"Fuckin' let me get my shit together for a sec, yeah?" He snapped, he sighed and ran his hands over his face, "Lisa is fine. She got shot in her shoulder and arm so it was a minor-"
Nicole kissed her teeth, "About minor, as if getting shot is a minor..." She mumbled under her breath but loud enough for all of us to hear.
Manny glared at her, "Yes. A minor considering she could have lost her fucking life." He spat, Nic looked ready to pounce at him until Sav held her down. "Aight, so she didn't want you man to go see her right now because she hasn't been one hundred percent truthful with you man." He continued.
"So, remember that time at the AP when she argued with Carlos? When they didn't just argue, she walked in on him getting blows from next gyal and he didn't even flinch when she walk in on him." He clenched his fist and breathed deeply, "In fact, if I didn't walk in on time he would have hit her, talking 'bout NeXt TiMe KnOcK..."
"Fuck sake!" Nicole slapped her hand down on the coffee table, "Why didn't you say anything?!" She looked just about ready to lunge across the room and give him a fast lick to the head. It didn't make any sense, if he knew this was going on why did he have to wait till she got shot to start talking? Manny's my guy, out of all my boys he has the most sense, so I'll trust him to have a sensible reason but as of right now, he was making no sense.
"Ok, first of all, Nicole you're gonna want to chill out because I don't think you can cap and say that Carlos hasn't been moving weird. If we're about to play the blame game, all of us are to blame. It was no secret that Carlos was moving weird. So chill, Carlos was the one who hit her, not us. It won't do no good to get angry at each other so just calm down. And can we chill with the cussing, please?" Wura stepped in. The name Carlos rang a bell in my head but I just couldn't put the name to a face. Nevertheless, my gut had a feeling and it wasn't a good one.
