End of the Day

"Sutton, please stop! I know you want this just as much as I do."

My feet move faster than I can register, zig-zagging through the abandoned tall cocktail tables draped in long black linens and dodging champagne flutes that litter the ground.

"Sutton I swear to God!"

The feeling of my stomach dropping to my feet has only happened to me a number of times. Roller coasters and driving on a road that has steep hills, but right now is different. I swear my stomach fell out of my body the moment he opened his mouth and it's sitting on the ground in front of him, as he is on his knees watching me run.

"Baby, please!"

I don't stop. I don't stop until I get to the heavy metal door that creaks loudly as I begin to open it.

"You can't run from everything good in your life!"

As if my selective hearing had decided to take a break without my permission, his words send shockwaves through my body, instead of guilt or sadness, all I feel is anger.

I turn around as my hand leaves the handle of the large door and look at the man who has caused me to lose my breath from running so hard and fast on the rooftop. His emerald eyes catch mine as he looks as breathless as me without stepping a foot, let alone sprint like I had.

"Who ever said you were something good in my life?" I said and instantly his eyes dropped to the ground as my hand dropped back to the door handle. I disappeared behind the door, leaving nothing but my feelings of security behind me.
