Chapter 1

I can't stop smiling.

My feet feel like they are gliding across the pavement as I gaze my hazel eyes across the park, scanning for my friends.

Spotted.

I see them sitting on a blanket and chatting.

Amara's straight, chestnut hair is falling down her face, grazing the pages of the book in her hands (per usual.)

Hailey and Lily seem to be in the midst of a "who's the dummer bitch" contest (they're tied in my book.)

Ayla is being her usual unproblematic self, watching the pointless argument Hailey and Lily go down.

I finally make eye contact with Phoebe, who's already smiling and calling Em over to them.

I dramatically plopped myself down on the blanket, waiting for them to acknowledge my presence.

They all know what I'm going to say so they choose to ignore my excitement, but I can't take it anymore.

"Guys!" I look at them expectingly, "Today's the day!" I smile, hearing groans all the way around the circle. Ignoring them I continue, "Harry comes from England tonight!" I sing, pushing my annoying golden waves over my ear and staring at my friends.

I can feel excitement glowing like a halo around me.

Phoebe playfully rolled her eyes, "We know Haze, it's not like you've been talking about it since Harry confirmed in June," she laughs, joined by the other girls.

Lily nudges my side and whispers just loud enough for us all to hear, "I bet 10 bucks that he'll be hot as hell." She smiles slyly, getting giggles out of all of us.

Ayla speaks up with her charming tone, "Of course he'll be fucking hot, he's bloody British," she says in her best (but still terrible) English accent.

I speak through all the laughter filling the air, "Come on guys, he's going to be like my... 'replacement brother,'" I shake my head at the thought of them suggesting more.

My brother Jason just left for his second year in college, meaning I need myself a new brother to keep me out of trouble. Who knows what senior year has in store.

However, I find this as a perfect chance to raze Lily about her hot brother, "Although maybe Lily has a point. Clearly brothers can be hot, hers is living proof. Connor's pretty fine," I say fanning myself and pretending to faint, getting laughs from everyone but Lily.

Amara closes her book, a small blush covers her cheeks. She's always had a thing for Connor.

Though now, she hides her blush and looks at me with a huge smirk spread across her face, "Yeah, and now you'll have your own bloody hot brother," she speaks, in a better than the average American British accent.

I hit her arm and she pretends to be seriously injured, causing Hailey to fake help her and shame me.

We all burst out laughing and smiling.

What would I do without these five?

We skip into a comfortable silence and I stare at the beautiful sight that is Golden Gate Park. Nothing can beat growing up in San Fran. It sucks that there's only one week left before school starts.

I love summer, it's my favorite season. The way I can drive through the busy street of San Francisco, windows down, music blaring, and feeling the wind blow my curls into a birds nest. Watching the sunset over the ocean and running through the streets. I enjoy the movie montage feeling I get during these 3 months.
