It had been years since the last time he was here. His hometown had become a foreign place to him. Similarly, it had been years since he found himself at this particular address, yours. He knocked on the door lightly, knowing from all those years ago that you didn't have to knock hard for it to be heard all throughout the house. Deep in his thoughts, he didn't hear the door opening at first, but when it finally swung upon, his breath caught in his throat seeing your gorgeous and now more mature face for the first time. You gasped.

"Haechan? Is that really you?"

He smiled and nodded.

"In the flesh"

You couldn't help the smile that overcame you as you rushed to hug him, wrapping your arms around his neck as his defaulted to your waist. To him, it felt so right to have you in his arms, but you were just happy to see him after so long.

"I can't believe you're back, it's been years"

You said, pulling away to stand in front of him.

"Yeah"

He scratched the back of his neck nervously.

"I know, and I'm sorry for that. Listen I shouldn't have left that night, and it's my biggest regret to this day. I wasn't there when you needed me"

You didn't know what to say, seeing him in person brought back a ton of memories that you worked so hard to bury. You could feel them all fighting to emerge now, as tears immediately formed in your eyes.

"Babe, who's at the door?"

A voice called from behind. Haechan felt his heart break a second time as muscular arms wrapped around you from behind, and his childhood best friend appeared next to you. Jeno looked at Haechan in surprise before looking down at you worriedly. Noticing that you were almost in tears, he immediately got defensive and held you against his chest, linking your hand with his. That's when Haechan saw the engagement ring on your finger.

"First day back and you're already making my fiancé cry, nothing has changed"

Jeno snapped, still carrying the hatred he felt for the younger boy all those years ago.

"It's okay, he didn't mean to"

You said against his chest.

"Sorry, I wasn't trying to cry"

Mixed apologies of "it's okay" and "don't worry about it" came from both boys. Haechan looked down slightly so he could meet your eyes.

"I really didn't mean to upset you, it's just that if I'm going to be back in town for a while, I feel like we need to talk about this"

You nodded slowly.

"Okay then, let's talk"
