AUTHOR'S NOTE: The phony Dupree parents have barely escaped the Emerald C's Resort, and they are going for help to rescue Teresa and Greg. Greg has been captured and, shall we say, treated rather unkindly by Ciano's goons. Terry is on the loose somewhere on the Resort property, but who knows how long she can stay that way. She refuses to escape while Greg is likely to be snuffed any minute. She has to try to save him. Enjoy this chapter of Emerald's Secret.
Irene was driving like a bat out of the nether regions, while Stefan sat beside her, dialing the cellular phone.
"I don't like leaving our little girl back there alone," Irene said, without looking away from the road.
"She's not alone, dear, she has Mister Smith and Mister Wesson, and we're calling her some more help right now." Stefan patted her knee without looking away from the phone. "We'll get them back, sweetheart."
Irene's eyes flicked to the rearview mirror. She saw no one following them – yet – but she drove even faster.
On the stygian beach shore behind the Emerald C's Resort, the thugs, Marco and Irving, dragged Greg's unconscious form toward the boathouse. Irving carried the bank bag over one shoulder.
They didn't see the crouching figure with a rifle strapped to its back, following them, darting from shadow to shadow.
Once inside the boathouse, Marco and Irving hauled Greg aboard the yacht moored there.
