My heart pounded with a mixture of excitement and nerves. Tonight was the night of the Grand Ball, an event thrown by none other than me, Lorenzo Giovanni Dilucia's heir. In the past six months, I had managed to dominate the entire underground world in the USA, with the exception of a few key states still under the control of the formidable Andrea, known as the Garavelo.

These six months had been a grueling and treacherous journey. I had waded through blood-soaked battlefields, enduring endless nightmares that taunted my mind every night. Darkness had consumed me, invading my thoughts and painting my days with shades of despair. I couldn't begin to fathom the toll this war had taken on the lives of countless individuals caught in the crossfire. As much as I tried to shield the innocent, there were moments when my rivals showed no mercy and claimed innocent lives. It was a burden that weighed heavy on my conscience, but I knew it was a necessary sacrifice to pave the way for a more just and lawful underground world.

Andrea, on the other hand, had never stooped to hurting the pure-hearted. We both understood the unwritten rules of this game, and when situations demanded it, we even joined forces to eliminate gangs that played unfairly. We were the two most powerful factions in the USA, our powers evenly matched. I had no qualms with Andrea as long as we remained equals.

The Grand Ball was more than a celebration; it was a symbol of the harmony and unity I aimed to bring to the underworld. It was an opportunity for everyone connected to the illegal business in the USA, from all corners of the world, to come together under a common banner. The event was governed by the rules and conditions set forth in the Circle – a system I had painstakingly created to maintain control and order. No one was exempt from the consequences for breaking these rules.

As I prepared for the Grand Ball, I carefully selected a cream-colored silk dress that accentuated every curve of my body. The fabric hugged my figure in all the right places, exuding an air of sensuality and elegance. The dress gracefully fell to my ankles, its length adding an element of sophistication. A daring slit on the right side of the dress started from my mid-thighs and extended all the way down, revealing just enough to captivate without overwhelming.

The color, a soft cream, complemented my skin tone, giving me a radiant glow. The back of the dress was adorned with a plunging décolleté, showcasing my entire back while gracefully hiding the dimples just above my hips. It was a balance of allure and modesty, a perfect representation of my personality.

Beneath the dress, hidden expertly, was a small and thin knife – a secret weapon for self-defense, a reminder that even in a world of luxury and glamour, danger lurked around every corner. I gently adjusted the dress to ensure the knife stayed securely in place, a precautionary measure that ensured my safety without compromising my style.

With my attire in place, I turned my attention to accessorizing. I opted for simplicity, choosing to wear my beloved Cartier bracelet as the sole piece of jewelry. Its delicate design added a touch of elegance to my ensemble, without overpowering the overall look. I believed that less was more when it came to accessories, and on this occasion, it felt right to let my dress be the star of the show.

Next, I slipped into a pair of black strappy high heels, carefully fastening them around my ankles. The line along the top of the shoes created an illusion of elongated and slender legs, completing the look with a touch of grace and poise.

As the hairdressers arrived to work their magic on my locks, I felt a sense of relaxation wash over me. I had chosen a hairstyle that embodied effortless beauty, opting for soft waves that cascaded down my back. The brown hues of my hair caught the light, shimmering with its natural vitality.

I have always been a firm believer in the power of natural beauty, and when it came to makeup, I preferred a more subtle approach. I applied a tan-colored eyeshadow, lightly dusting it across my lids for a touch of warmth. A small amount of shimmer added a hint of radiance, catching the light with a subtle sparkle. With a steady hand, I drew a delicate line of eyeliner, framing my eyes and adding depth to my gaze. Finally, I chose a nude lipstick, complementing my natural lip color and providing a soft, effortless finish.

Feeling ready, I grabbed my clutch, but just as I was about to head out, my phone started to ring.

Andrea.
