"I'm coming, I'm coming," I yell coming down the hall.
"You have everything, correct?" My worried dad they call Tony Stark asks. I look him in the eyes.
"Yes, and I have Zo so I'll be fine. I'm gonna be late." I stood up and kissed him on the cheek, said goodbye and ran out the door.
I hear him yell a goodbye and smiled to myself, walking through the big doors, the wind hitting my face. 'Finally free' I think to my self.
I'm met with the back of Zoe Rogers, Daughter of Steve Rogers, aka Cap. Her dirty blonde hair pulled in a high pony, her flannel flapping in the wind and her long legs exposed in short shorts.
"There you are! What took so long?!" she said turning to face me.
"You know how my dad is," I say , giving her a look. "Hey if it makes you feel better, my dad did the same thing."
"But your dad is Steve Rogers, he always worries." I said with a smirk on my face. "Hey!" she yelled, whacking me in the arm.
"Btw, Love the outfit." She said. "Thanks."
I was wearing a black skater skirt with an iron man graphic tee (family promotion, don't judge) with black booties and my dark brown hair flowing in the wind.
The car pulled up and we hopped in. "Hola Happy." I said to him. "Good morning Kass, Zoe," the driver said back.
Zoe waved. We then began to pull out of the driveway and headed toward the city that I dreamed of visiting.
The rest of my life starts now.
~*~
As we approached Midtown High, I saw thousands of paparazzi lined up outside. We pulled up to the big staircase and Zoe hopped out first.
Before I was able to get out, Happy tapped my arm. "Good luck Kid." I smiled at him. "Thanks Hap."
I got out and was bombarded with cameras and flashes, all of them yelling my name. "Come on," Zoe said, pulling my arm toward the door.
We finally made it inside, without getting too trampled on. "Wow," I breathed, noticing the beautiful architecture of the building I was in.
"The office is this way," Zoe said, yanking my arm again. "You can let go of my arm, y'know." "I don't want you to wander." She said in her 'mom' voice.
Yes she has a mom voice.
We made it to the office and walked up to the desk. "Welcome Miss Stark, to Midtown High!" the desk lady exclaimed excitedly.
"Thank you." I replied with my signature Stark smile. She handed me my locker number and combo, and my schedule. I had all the same classes as Zoe, so I shouldn't get too lost.
We said goodbye and walked through the long halls. Whenever we passed a group of people I heard whispers like "Omigod it's Kassandra Stark '' and "Is it really her?" or "man she's cute."
We finally made it to my locker. I opened it on the first try. "So it looks like we have Choir first." Zoe exclaimed, eyes glued to the piece of paper she held.
"Oh thank god. That'll make the day so much better." Zoe smiled. But as soon as her bright blue eyes lit up they once again faded."Great." I turned to the direction she was facing.
Let's just say I shouldn't have done that.
There he was.
In all his glory.
Surrounded by people.
A blonde attached at his hip and his brown bouncy curls all over the place.
"Well there goes my day," I said sadly. "Hey it's ok, just forget about Peter. Before we head to class I have people to introduce to you too."
I nodded and followed her. We walked over to a short boy and a taller girl. "Hey guys, this is-" "Kassandra Stark." the boy said awestruck.
"Yes Ned, this is Kass." "Hi," I said , waving slightly. "And this," Zoe said, turning to the girl.
"This is-" "Mj?" I said, recognizing the girl. "Hey Kass, long time no see."
"How do you know each other?" Zoe said confused. "Online book club," Both Mj and I answered at the same time.
After our little reconnection, we all talked till the bell rang and headed to the Choir room.
"Wow this place is awesome," I said looking around the room with all the playbooks.
"Welcome, Miss Stark, I'm Ms. Evans. I hope you have a song prepared." the blonde woman said.
"I do." I answered her back. She smiled and gestured to a seat next to Zoe.
"What song?" Zoe asked me. "You'll see." I smiled at her.
But as soon as he walked into the room, that smile faded. My eyes went wide and I turned to Zoe.
"You didn't tell me he took Choir?!" I said freaking out a bit.
"I didn't know either." she said, just as confused. He sat down, the same blonde attached to him.
"Welcome to Choir. I'm Ms. Evans, your teacher for the rest of the year. I'd like to welcome Kassandra Stark to choir this year. She has a song prepared for us so, Miss Stark, take it away."
I stood up and connected my phone to the bluetooth. 'Its ok Kass, you can do this. Think happy thoughts.' I started to sing.
"Sun goes down and we are here together,"
I glanced at Zoe, who knew the song as well.
"Fireflies glow like a thousand charms,
Stay with me and you can dream forever,
Right here in my arms tonight.Sounds of day, fade away,
Stars begin to climb.
Melodies, fill the breeze,
Sweeter all the time."I glanced at Zoe and gestures for her to join in, since she knew the song.
" Zoe: My love... (Kass: Sun goes down and we are here together)
Zoe: Is always with you, whether near or far (Kass: Fireflies glow like a thousand charms)
Zoe: How sweet to hold you (Kass: Stay with me and you can dream forever)
Together: Right here in my arms tonight"Once the song was done, the whole room erupted in claps and whistles. Everyone had big happy smiles on their faces, even the quiet kids.
'It worked,' I said to myself.
I grabbed Zoes hand and we bowed and took our seats. "What a beautiful song. Wherever did you hear it?" Ms. Evans asked.
I cleared my throat, ready for the hard memories flooding back. "My mother sang it to me all the time before she um..." I looked down. I glanced at Zoe, who knew exactly what I was thinking.
"Well, anyways it was magnificent. Now let's get on with the lesson, shall we?"
I looked back up and met eyes with Peter, who shot me a small smile.
This year is going to be just peachy.
