Chapter 4

"Alright, people! We've only got two days until the Battle of the Bands!" Ritsu said as she pointed to the whiteboard behind her.

"We know, Senpai. You've been saying that every day for the past week straight. What we should be concerned about is--"

"I'm so excited! Isn't anyone else excited?!"

"I'm with you, Rit-chan! Right, Mugi-chan?"

Mugi smiled. "Of course!"

Azusa had enough and slammed her hands on the table to get their attention. They all turned to look at her. "What's wrong, Azusa?"

"What's wrong?! It's the Battle of the Bands! We've rarely practiced and it's three days away! Lots of great bands must've signed up for this competition! If we want to win, we have to practice!"

"I'm with Azusa."

"Mio-senpai..."

"I also want to win. But, like Azusa said, we've rarely been practicing. The song has to be perfect. So, enough fooling around. Especially you, Ritsu."

"Eh?! Me?! What about Yui?!"

"Both of you. This is serious."

"You're right, Mio," Mugi said and bowed her head. "I'm truly sorry."

"It's alright, Mugi."

"Oh, girls~"

They all turned to see Miss Yamanaka walk in. "You won't believe what I heard!"

"Huh?"

"What's the big news, Sawa-chan?! I'm dying to know!"

They all gathered around her. "I heard some well-known and popular bands have entered the Battle of the Bands!"

"Whoa! Really?!"

"See? This is exactly why I was telling you we should practice, Senpai."

Ritsu rubbed the back of her neck sheepishly. "There will also be a very popular boy band performing! I'm so excited!"

"Boy band...?"

"You mean like..."

They imagined a group of boys dressed as idols. Flowers and hearts around them as they blew kisses to the crowd and made hearts with their hands. They imagined boys that were good-looking, yet were extremely flirty with seductive smiles and winks.

"Your hand looks heavy. Can I hold for you?"

"Someone should call the police because you just stole my heart."

"Let me sweep you off your feet~"

"Idols?"

"It's been a while. How've you been, man?"

"I've been fine. I have some tests coming up in a few days though. I've been stuck in my dorm this past week cramming for them."

"I'm sure you'll do fine. You aced the entrance exam after all."

"Yeah. Guess you're right. So, what about you? What've you been up to since we last talked? Well...besides doing concerts and shows and stuff like that."

"Writing some new songs here and there. Well, I guess I should say 'lyrics'."

"Lyrics? Usually, you'd have thought up a song by now."

"I...haven't gotten the...inspiration...to finish an entire song."

"Don't you guys have a deadline coming up for the new album I've been hearing so much about?"
