Three months passed but Jai was still adamant about Rajiv's marriage proposal.

"I am vexed up with him Karan!" Rajiv whisper-yelled at Karan after taking another chug from the beer can.

"Try and talk to him peacefully, Rajiv," Karan said to warm him up.

"How can I Karan? He even stopped coming home," Rajiv again whisper yelled.

"Maybe he needs some more time Rajiv?" Karan said.

Rajiv dropped the beer can onto the floor and turned towards Karan, with red eyes.

"I suppose he needs an eternity then."

"Rajiv, you should understand that he still would like to marry the girl he loved for a lifetime. Like you love Jyothi."

"I wish for that girl to be the one I wanted him to marry," Rajiv mumbled and then said, " I just wanted him to happy...after all that happened. I wanted her to be happy."

"They will be," smiled Karan.

As Rajiv was about to take another can of beer from the mini-fridge, Karan reminded him about his journey tomorrow to Bangalore, for squaring up a business deal. Just like that both of the friends ended up in their respective houses.

Two days later.

"Rajiv Malhotra, the Chairman of Malhotra industries, who visited Bangalore two days before, had met with an accident. He was hit by a truck, killing the driver instantly. He was admitted to a multi-specialty hospital, with severe injuries and blood loss. There was not much information gathered from our sources due to high alerts around the hospital. Mahika Malhotra had taken a private flight to visit her father, from India," were the only words Karan had heard, before getting up from his chair and storming out of his house to the hospital. Jai, as soon as heard this from Rohan, picked up an early flight with a heavy heart.

Location: Bangalore, India.

It has been more than two hours and the doctors are still performing surgery. Jyothi sniffled in his son's embrace after crying for an hour straight. Jai is no excuse. But he tried his best to control his tears. Because he knew that if his mother watched him cry she would become weaker.

After about 45 minutes, Rajiv was rushed to the ICU in the VIP ward. After this, the doctors gave Rajiv's dear ones, the status of his health, that he had three broken and two bruised ribs, with a fractured leg and hand. His skull had a hairline crack. If not for the seat belt he would have died on the spot with more internal injuries. And that the heavy blood loss resulted in his temporary coma.

Mahika who showed up later in the evening, stayed by his father's side looking at his battered face, with an unreadable expression. Rohan, who came a few minutes back into the room, stood behind her hesitating to tell her that the hospital staff wouldn't allow any visitors to stay in Rajiv's room for more than 5 minutes due to the risk of infection. His failure to let her know made one of the nurses remind them of the rule. Without giving Rohan a second glance, Mahika walked out of the room, not paying heed to Rohan, who was calling for her. Rohan lost his cool and finally ran behind her.

Grabbing her hand, Rohan pulled her to face him.

"Mahika?" he whispered grabbing both of her arms as he still cried without opening her eyes.

"Mahika, please talk to me," he pleaded in his almost crying voice.

She finally let out a sob and covered her mouth with one of her palms, chanting, "Why? Why?"
