If you know me I'm a big fan of Slipknot. From Snuff to People = Shit I love it all.
After the bassist and friend of the band Paul Gray passed it seemed like we'd seen the end of The Nine. And now we have this. A album dedicated to the deceased.
I feel this is the most emotional album they have done. Especially on The Devil In I and Goodbye.
Music-wise the album keeps a tone similar to Iowa. As Joey has also left the band it's strange how natural Weinberg and Venturella (the two supposed new members) sound among the band. I myself actually had to check if there were any tracks Joey recorded before he left. Then I felt like a dumbass! Point being Weinberg sounds just as good as Joey.
The best and darkest song on the album for me is a nice little song called "Custer" which I think is about either Corey's mental attitude everyday. Or Custer's Last Stand.
The second best song is the promotional song for the album. "The Devil In I." This song has been said to be about the bad in everyone. With this track it feels more like The Subliminal Verses rather than Iowa but it may just be me.
Overall this is one of the best albums I've heard from them. They have shown death itself can't stop them.
