Utopia

Chapter 2 - Panic

        "Me???!!", I joked. "Stop lying to me!"

       "Dear Successor, I, Lena, the last surviving Banshee, am not lying to you. We need to leave now, before the Zephyrs that were chasing me catches up." The Banshee formally bowed.

        "But.. where are we going to go? Charcoal is at the most Southern part of the Fire Country, and to get to the rest of the nations would mean that we would have to travel all the way North, which would be practically impossible considering the amount of Zephyrs that had already conquered the Fire Country"

        "Well, anything beats staying here!" Lena said, obviously annoyed that I was being naggy.

        After she finally convinced me, we were ready to get back and break the news to my mother. However, when we reached my house, mother was nowhere to be found. "They've been here," Lena seemed to know what happened as she quickly grabbed a few pieces of my clothing as well as important items before she dragged me out of the house. 

        I was stunned. Where is mother? Where could she have gone? How did Lena knew what happened to her?

        Lena dragged both me and my baggage out of the house. She sprinted the moment we got out of the house, dragging me behind her as my legs moved by themselves. I felt like I was drifting until I felt sharp pains on my feet; I had forgotten to wear my shoes out. Regaining control of my mind, I turned, only to realise that we were being chased by a group of Zephyrs, who were close on our feets. I immediately sprinted, and now it was my turn to drag Lena along with me.

        We ran into the nearby market (which was already dead due to news of Zephyrs approaching) and turned right into one of the stores and hid under the counter. We made sure we hid well so that no one can find us.

        Dead quiet. There was no soul here except for the two of us.

        Serenity was broken as footsteps appear to come nearer and nearer to us. Panicking, Lena and I dared not even breathe, for fear of being found out. 

        Silence fell again.

      I have never felt silence this comforting as both of us started to relax, knowing that we were safe. That feeling didn't last long, as we heard the words that sent a shiver down our spines: "They're there."
