For once in all of time, the Stars spoke to themselves and spoke a story that every mortal heard. For a while, the humans listened. Eventually, however, they stopped and began to turn to other ways of finding out what to do. Once someone stopped listening, the Stars would never speak to them again.
With what few people still listened to the true Stars, a group emerged. They were players in a game that not even the Stars understood. At the very end, they could be seen looking up when ashes fell and smoke arose. Then, after their lives of listening to the long story of the Stars, they changed the world.
To see what exactly happened and what game they were playing, you would have to listen to a story. Not the story that the Stars spoke, but the story that the Stars did not even know. One could say that a god was toying with them. However, I never toy with anyone. I just make the plot. Mortal and Stars alike find their own paths. The Stars chose to create and mortals chose if they wanted to follow the Stars or not.
This part of the story starts all over the world and with letters. There were 244 letters, in fact. All mailed to different people across the world.
One letter ends up in small village in England. James Wilson had been packing to leave for Garden Wall University. He was tall with pale skin and red hair. His blue eyes had bags under them and he seemed rushed for no reason. While packing his complete collection of H. P. Lovecraft works, he heard a knock on his window.
James' girlfriend, Therissa "Tess" Cliff, is also packing to leave for the same university. She lived in England as well, only one hour driving distance away from James. She had tan skin with dark hair and brown eyes. Currently, she was not in her room packing for her return to her hometown in America. Instead, she was outside her boyfriend's window, knocking for his attention.
Of course, James would never ignore the person he loved almost as much as his own parents. So, he went to the window and opened it. What he said, in a hushed tone as to not disturb his parents in the living room across the hall was "What in all of the many worlds are you doing here?"
An answer, returned with a second hushed tone from Tess said "Well, I got two letters in the mail and one was addressed to you."
"So you decided to bring it over?" The sluggish boy replied, "You didn't just want an excuse to not pack?"
"Oh, certainly not, love." She held out a letter for James to take. "Here you go. No return address on either of ours, which is odd. Just says my name on the cover of mine and yours on yours. I haven't opened mine yet."
James took the letter from Tess and waited for her to get her own ready. Then, they proceeded to race to see who could open their letter the fastest and the neatest. Tess may have finished first, but her envelope was torn in different directions and areas. Anyone looking in on the situation would wonder how the letter inside was not torn.
James on the other hand took his time, but it wasn't torn in any way. It instead had its own seal neatly removed from the back. Normally there would be a light argument over who had won with them both deciding they were both winners. However, Tess was already reading the letter.
The letter that Tess was reading has been written as,
