December 15 6:32 pm   Chrissy's POV:

The snow was coming down almost as hard as my tears were. My hands were shaking and I gripped the steering wheel harder, making my knuckles go white. Squinting, I struggled to see through the snow that was hitting my windshield. I was trying to follow on the road when the car hit some ice on the street, and the car squealed as I hit the brake; it swerved and my hands lost control of the steering wheel.

I screamed as the car went skidding off the road into the snow banks, I grabbed back on to the steering wheel and tried to back up, again, and again. I apparently had no luck so I struggled with my seat belt, trying to get it out of the buckle. I eventually yanked the belt out and sat up straighter.

Great, I left my phone at home and now I have to walk five miles. Sighing and sniffling, I pushed my door open with all my might and got out, grabbing my jacket. As soon as I got out the snow hit me like a brick, I quickly shoved my arms through my gray jacket and wrapped it tightly around me. I looked around, with the wind whipping my hair against my face, and saw I was near some woods. The trees were covered with white, and the cold road was empty.

Unwillingly, I got up to the sidewalk and I started trudging my way to my apartment.

Step, step, step. That was all I heard for a long time, I was trying to block out what just happened.  Of course when you try not to think about something, you do.

I hear the screaming in my head, ‘How could you do this to me?!’……‘I don’t love you anymore!’…. ‘But I love you! And…and…and we’ve been going out together for…for four years!’…. He just looked at me and said, ‘Leave.’ My eyes brimmed with tears, and I told him, ‘Fine. I will leave but…but we’re…over.’ And I left.

I screamed with frustration and collapsed, almost drowning in my own tears. I screamed to the sky, “I love him!” But nothing happened. Why did he have to cheat on me? Why did I have to go to his house and catch him? Why did all of this have to happen? I need my sister; the person I know will always be there.  I pulled at my hair and let out another scream. I sighed and yanked myself up.

I walked down the icy sidewalk once again and thought to myself, Why Cliff? Don’t you love me? More tears rolled down my cheeks and I harshly wiped them away with my hand. Don’t cry, don’t cry, don’t cry I told myself.

I was like that the whole way home; trying not to cry.  I walked up the stairs to the door of my apartment, pulled my keys out of my pocket, stuffed them into the whole, and opened the door.

“You’re SO going down! I’m the MASTER at this game!” I heard Charlie, my sister, yell.

“No way! I’m so good at this game that…that...” I heard Luke say.

“Ha! You don’t even have a comeback!” Charlie screamed. Can they be any louder?

“I’m home!” I yelled; my voice cracking.

December 15 7:03 pm Charlie's POV:

I barely heard my sister's voice over the music pounding in the living room.

Luke and I were in the midst of a battle, WiiMotes clenched tightly in our hands.

He was Captain Falcon, I was Kirby. We were playing a game where Nintendo characters fought each other, trying to knock each other off the stage. It was battle me and Luke had fought many times over.

I blew the forelocks from out of my eyes, the brown tufts had a habit of always falling in my face. I had grown used to it, but it blocked the screen and allowed Luke the chance to grab my character and send him flying.

"Sounds like your sister's home." Luke's voice was quiet for once; he had been yelling the whole time we were playing.

"Yeah." My eyes were focused on the screen, I didn't have time to think of Chrissy, with me having only one life left Luke finally had a chance of beating me.

But knowing my sister, she would come in here and command us to turn the volume down. The only reason we had turned it up so loud was because she was supposed to be staying at her boyfriend's tonight.

...

Why was she back so early?

Something was wrong.

My sisterly instincts kicked in just as I was about to have Kirby hammer Captain Falcon's butt off the stage. The game stopped in front of us; paused under my control.

"..Hey!" Luke protested, I ignored him and set the controller down on the couch.

"Chrissy? Back so soon?" I called, trotting into the kitchen. My legs were stiff from sitting for so long. I could hear Luke's heavy footsteps coming behind me.

My sister was at the door, shivering with red tear-stained face.

Her clothes were soaked, meaning she had been covered in snow and it all melted.

What had she been doing out in the snow? Why was she crying?

"Chrissy?" My voice echoed through the room, the only other sound was the faint battle music coming from the television.

I stood away from her for a minute, when really I should have been rushing to her side. Luke did that for me, crossing the room to grab my sister's shoulder and peel off her wet jacket.

"You're freezing." I heard him mutter with concern. I was still standing there, watching my sister's face in amazement. I hadn't seen my sister cry in a long time, the tears still stuck to her cheeks should be bottled and stole. 'Chrissy Tears' would make millions.

Luke returned from the mud room, the jacket was probably drying over a heater. "Come sit down." He said, taking Chrissy under his arm and leading her over to the table. I made it there when she did, sitting across the table from her.

"What happened?" The question was in Luke's eyes, but I was the one who dared to ask it first.
