December 15 7:21 pm Charlie's POV

I had gotten myself a drink before Chrissy had warmed up and started her story.

A mix of orange juice and 7-Up, perfect icecubes clinked against the glass whenever I moved it.

By the time she had finished her sad story, my drink was gone, a few surviving icecubes were sitting in the bottom of the glass. They wouldn't last long though, Luke had turned the heat up in the apartment for Chrissy. Usually Luke headed back to his own home around 7, him and his roomate watched the football game together. Typically Luke would never miss a game for his life, but he was still here, straddling a seat beside Chrissy.  He listened to her every word, never missing a beat when she paused in between sentences.

The boy would always add a soft "Yes, or Hm. Or Oh.." It made Chrissy feel like she wasn't just talking to herself, since I had been silent the whole time.

I always thought Cliff was a bullhead, but Chrissy loved him enough, so it was my job to accept him. I stared at the ice in the bottom of the glass while running my finger along the rim.

"I got stuck in the snow on the way back." Chrissy murmured, I could feel her soft eyes on me. I met her gaze blankly, before exchanging glances with Luke.

"Is the car okay?" I looked back at her, and she wiggled in her seat. She was surprised that I was worried about the car, and not about her. Of course I was worried about her, but that car was my only method of transportation when I go and pound Cliff into pulp.

"I dunno. It's still stuck out there." She paused to sniffle in attempt to remind me of the real problem at hand.

"What did the girl look like that he was macking on?" I offered, watching her eyes flicker sideways in thought.

"Blonde hair, tanned, big chest." Chrissy ran a hand over her nose. I leaned my head on my palm, my elbow resting on the table.

"Slut." I hissed under my breath, the girl was easy enough to picture. Cliff's bruised and cut face was also easy to picture, once my fists had gotten ahold of it.

"What are we going to do about the car?" Luke's voice made us both look over.

He had left his place at the table, and was standing beside the door, staring out

the window. His hands were in his pockets; he was thinking.

"Go out and get it. You have a truck, can't you tow it back?" My voice was blunt.

"It isn't that easy." He turned to frown at me, "Besides....it's cold." His shoulders shivered, rising then dropping.

"Wimp." A scoff came from me.

"We can just call a tow truck." Chrissy suggested, trying to be helpful.

She was a blubbering mess though,

I guess I would be to, if the boy I loved decided I wasn't worth his time.

She could have done so much better than Cliff.

She deserved better.

"Why spend the money, when Luke can do it for free?" I gave my friend a toothy grin.
