------------------------------------------------------
For several days, I dated various kinds of boys. Up until I met Alan, my hopes had been high for getting a new guy. However, Alan had curly, bright red hair, humongous, thick, square glasses and he wore a tux all the time. Even on our date to the movies. He was also disgusting.
On my date with him I was small talking him, trying to start a conversation saying things like: Where do you go to school?, What's your favorite movie?, etc.
When the movie started, I mentally sighed in relief. No more forcing myself to speak. Things weren't horrible yet until, halfway through the movie, I heard a "Flarp" then a laugh that sounded like a donkey. The air around me stunk and I realized he had farted. After three more times of "Flarp" I walked right out of the theater and called Charlie to pick me up.
Not the best date ever.
My hopes of finding true love were crushed.
December 18 3:12 P.M.
After 23 boys and 22 1/2 dates, I needed ice cream.
"Let's go get ice cream. There's a parlor about a block away, we can walk." I suggested.
"Okay! Sounds...ice creamy...?" Agreed Luke, grinning.
"Oh...well, you guys can go ahead. I kind of wanted to look around for more boys..." Charlie said softly.
"Oh. Okay. Well...are you sure?" I asked, feeling bad for leaving her by herself.
"Positive. You guys go. Have fun!" She told me, smiling.
"Well, okay. ...Call me if you need me or found someone okay?" I said, thinking about insisting Luke and I go with her.
"Okay. Now, BYE!" She demanded, walking out of the apartment.
Luke and I glanced at each other, and then ran for the door. Before his hand could touch the door, I shoved him away and slammed myself against the door.
"Ha-ha! I won, I won, I WON!" I sang in victory, doing a little spin around dance.
“The females in this place are all so competitive.” Luke grumbled.
“No we are not! We are just awesome winners, and don’t like losing.” I defended.
“Whatever. Now I don’t have a reason to get an extra scoop of ice cream.” Luke whined.
Two words: Sore. Loser.
“GASP! ….I have a reason! You know what it is? I’m a WINNER!” I yelled, grinning.
“Come on.” Luke muttered, opening the door.
“-then, the donkey yelled, ‘That is one OFFENSIVE word.’”
Of course, I cracked up at yet another one of Luke’s hilarious jokes. After a few moments, I stopped laughing because Luke wasn’t even chuckling. Instead, he was gazing at me. It started to get kind of awkward.
Suddenly, he gently touched his hand to mine. When his fingers brushed mine I felt a small spark, but I didn’t feel it enough to say anything.
He heaved a giant sigh then softly started. “You know Chrissy, there’s something I’ve wanted to tell you. I know it’s kind of sudden, but I just really want you to know. Chrissy I…”
My phone ringing cut off the sound of his voice. The caller I.D. said “Charlie A.K.A the lil sis” so I held up my index finger to Luke and said, “Hold that thought, please.” I pressed the green button and held the phone to my ear.
“Hello?” I said into the phone.
“Hey, Chrissy. Listen, just come to Café L'amour. Go to go. Bye. ” Charlie uttered, and the line went dead. I set my phone down and turned to Luke.
“Charlie just called and she wants us to go to Café L’amour. I guess we can walk there; it’s only like a couple blocks away. I think she found another boy for me!” I told him, grinning as big as I could.
“Oh.” Luke mumbled, his face turning solemn.
“Um…Yeah. Now, what were you going to say before?” I asked, curiosity peeking up.
Luke sighed, “Never mind. Let’s just go.”
