Chapter 20

"mum? dad?" I asked trying to not break down. 

"Lana? is that you?" my mum said.

"yeah its me"

"oh sweetie. we've been looking everywhere for you" my dad said hugging me tightly. 

"Really? thats new"

"oh Lana please don't start" my mum said.

"start what? what did you come here for? and how did you find me?"

"it doesn't matter how we found you. I'm so glad you are safe"

"what are you talking about?" I asked.

"you've been all Over the news" my dad added. 

"oh" was all I said.

"what is going on here?" Giovanni said behind me. "Lana are you alright?"

"yeah I'm fine" I replied. "why are you guys here"

"we want to apologise. darling we are so sorry for everything really" My mum said.

"really? I don't believe it."

"what do you want us to say? we are sorry for leaving you"

"oh really? because I don't believe that either. you left me. fucking abandoned me when I was 10 years old and now after 11 years you're saying sorry?"

"Honey please we want to make it up to you." 

"you can't make it up to me. I don't want you to make it up to me. you should've done it 11 years ago why now?"

"we miss you" my dad added. 

"you never once you supported me. Never once you told me you loved me. And that's all I ever needed. I needed you to tell me that you were proud of me. you don't get it do you? I never needed toys, or lollies or clothes. All I needed was my parents to get down on the floor and play with me. Communicate with me. But you were too busy doing you're own things. You ruined my childhood dont you get that? I'll never be able to get it back and it hurts. but one thing I know is that I owe my self the biggest apology for putting up with what I didn't deserve which was you two" I said wiping my tears. I felt Giovanni squeeze my hand tightly not letting go.

"we did love you. w-we made a mistake"

"and you cant fix that because I've grown and I realised that I don't need you. I am stronger without your presence"

"oh Come on don't be silly you are still our daughter" my mum said.

"I'm not. if I was your daughter you'd never leave me alone."

"Lana Sweetie you need us"

"I needed you when I was 10. I needed parents not part time visitors" I replied. "you are no parents because parents will love their child no matter problem they have, no matter how annoying they are because thats what parents do. they don't abandon when its hard, they fight through it together. and you two chose the easy way, to abandon me when you could've just tried to love me and understand me"

"Honey Pleas-" my dad tried to say but I cut him off.

"you ruined my life, and now I want you gone. get out" 

"oh don't be ridicules" 

"Get out now" I said crying, tears pouring down my face. "I don't ever want to see you again"

"Lana-" my mum was going to say but was cut off by Giovanni.

"she said get out" he said behind me.
