The next morning Avani was almost all better , it had been day 2 since she had not seen her dad but she didn't mind.

I slowly unraveled myself from all my blankets and went downstairs to make breakfast for Jabez and me , in the middle of flipping a pancake the door came flying open only to reveal what I hoped I wouldn't have to see ... her dad
"Well hello hon you miss me " he said walking closer and closer
Soon enough he was close enough , I could feel his alcohol stinking up my nostrils. I felt a sting on my face it burned me more than usual as he his my previous bruise
"Goodbye mistake hope you die"he said as he spat on her face
He walked away from me , I felt numb. It didn't bother me anymore. He could slap me 100 more times. I wouldn't care if anything did make him do it . I hope he was happy because he accomplished his goal. I now hate myself for everything about me. I just wish I was enough for him to like me. I scratched all the thoughts from my head , left Jabez his food on the counter and walked up the stairs to my room to change into my black sisters hoodie and sweatpants . I tried my best to cover up my bruises but you could obviously see the big bruise on my face so I put my hair in a low messy ponytail and put my hoodie up.
"Bubs can you give me a ride " i said having high hopes he would say yes
"Sure just get the car keys and sit in the car" he said brushing his teeth
I walked down stairs just to see my dad gone again , to be honest he could be here and I would walk past him . Snap out of it vani ok let go. Jabez came outside struggling to button his shirt , he was supposed to leave for college a few days ago but they had found rats somewhere in the building so it got postponed. Today he was leaving. I was sad but I knew I had to stay strong for him , I don't want to be the reason he stayed and lost his dream opportunity. He drove me to school , i gave him a kiss on the cheek messed up his hair
"Goodluck bubs don't miss me too much" she chuckled
"Of Course i'm going to miss you kido be a good little girl ok " he chuckled
You got out of the car and waved him goodbye , as you walked into the class you put your hood up and tried to cover your eyes. Once you thought you did, you walked into class only to receive stares from everyone in the class . You shook them off and walked to the back of the class where Addison and Desiree were sitting
"Hey girlies" you said with a smile
"Sis what happened to your eye " they both said in sink
" Oh um .. me and Jabez were play fighting and he pushed a bit too hard.." you said hoping they would believe you
"If you say so" they both nodded
I sighed in relief knowing that they believe it . It had been 9 minutes into class and the one and only Mattia Polibio busted threw the door out of breath,
"Sorry i got lost"he huffed
He came and sat down across from me , as soon his sight was properly fixed on my face he grew worried
"Vani what happened!" he said yelling at a whisper
"It was a mistake me and Jabez were just play fighting" i said a little lower than his voice
He nodded and gave his attention back to the teacher.
