A/N: I know there has been a lot of stories/tiktoks/etc doing something like this, and I decided to give it a go..... Here it is! Also be forewarned there may be some foul language!

Everyone got their word at noon on their 18th birthday. For most that was during their senior year of highschool, and so it helped a bit when trying to figure out their future. This word could appear anywhere on your body and it would tell you your future occupation or "purpose" if you will. Today was my 18th birthday and I was luckily in lunch when it happened.
I was in the school bathroom with my three (female) friends waiting for my reveal. I was going to tell my guy friends later depending on what I got. No matter what I got though the teachers here at Aspen Forest couldn't find out.
Let me start off by saying all of my friends were older than me. They all got their phrases/words and I sat there with pure, blank skin. My friends and siblings got pretty good ones. Cheryl, my older sister, got "chemist" on the back of her neck. Ivory got "makeup artist" on her ribs under her chest area. Taryn got "journalist" on her wrist. Toni got "police officer" on her shoulder blade. Ash got "chef"on his forearm. And, Chase got Sergeant Major (Marine Corps rank) on his chest.
It was 11:59 am and time seemed to go slower than ever before. And then, it started. The clock finally changed to 12:00 o'clock noon. I got a searing pain on my hip and it looked like ink had spilt on me. I looked down for a split second, lifted my shirt, and saw the ink swirling around.
"Do you want ice Brae" Ivory asked worry lining her voice. I couldn't utter a word so I just shook my head. A few minutes had passed and Toni asked if she could see how close is was to being done. I removed my hands from my hip. She lifted my shirt slightly.
"It should be done soon, some letters are already formed."
"Thanks, Toni" I said through my teeth. Taryn was holding my hand and letting my squeeze it, as if I was in labor. Suddenly, as if it was never there the searing pain stopped.
"Fuck. That hurt," I looked down at my hip and lifted my kinda tight white shirt. When my eyes met the word stained into my hip, well, I can't say I was really surprised.
Most people got words that they liked, and the few that didn't tried to cover them up, with no avail.
"Bartender" was the single word on my hip. My family had gotten "odd" ones for centuries. By odd I mean that they weren't super common ones, and definitely not jobs that should be set in stone for 18 year olds. But, oh well.
