"So tell me hon, how was your childhood?"
For the first time since walking into this dreaded school, I looked up, meeting the white haired beauty.
"Cold"
That's all I remembered, I suppressed the rest of it, to afraid of what it would do to me. If I thought hard enough, I could remember the whips, remember the ring leader responsible, but that was in the past.
"Ok hon-"
"(Y/n)" I cleared my sore throat as I hardened my resolve, "Please call me (Y/n), he-they never called me by my name."
I watched as the dark skinned women's face turned to one of sympathy, putting a comforting hand on mine that laid sprawled on the table.
"Your safe here, (Y/n). They won't hurt you again, your one of us now, and call me Storm."
I smiled, showing off my elongated canines as I shook her other hand.

It's been a year since I've been attending Charles Xavier's school for the gifted, and I couldn't be happier. Today's my 18th birthday, which means my mark will form soon. Everyone's soulmark develops into a shape when they're officially adults, starting off as little blobs of ink since the day your born.
Everyone insisted on throwing me a party to commemorate the occasion, going as far as to making alcohol a must.
Currently me and Rouge, the best roommate ever, where talking on the sofa, watching the drunk fools parade around like a group of pigeons.
"Oh my God, this is the best party since Logan and Jean bonded."
I turned, a laugh on my lips as I saw some of the new recruits play drunk twister in the corner, along with a group playing, or trying to play, Uno. My (e/c) eyes shone with glee as I swept the room, watching my chosen family have the time of their lives.
"Earth to (Y/n)," Rouge sang as she waved a hand in front of my blurry eyes. "It's almost midnight, don't start crying yet tiger."
"S-Sorry it's just-"
She put a comforting hand on my shoulders, pulling me into a gentle hug.
"I know.....I get it."
The sad part was that she did understand, being trapped in the same hell I was, going through the same torture everyday. We both had scars from it, and Rouge, poor Rouge had enough. Taking the shot that took her powers away along with a small handful of others, but she was better from it.
Before I knew it, I felt the burning on my shoulder, spastically rolling my red sleeve up. I heard the sharp gasp beside me as the mark formed, but I didn't look away. It lasted meer seconds, but once it was complete I had a huge smile plastered on my face.
The mark was a brilliant shade of silver, a star with strips of thin black running along in a symmetrical pattern. The surrounding area a matching gray that faded into my (s/c) skin at the ends, covering my upper shoulder.
"Oh my...."
Her voice trailed of as she continued to observe the fresh mark, everyone else was oblivious to the monumental moment. I should be ecstatic, jumping in the air in ecstasy, but I was frozen in shock, knowing immediately whose mark I barred. By the look Rouge had, she knew as well, sharing my anxiety as we sat in silence.
"I...I need a minute...."
Not waiting for an answer, I quickly paced to our shared room, locking the door behind me as I crawled into my bed. Tracing slow lines across the sensitive flesh as I leaned heavily on the headboard. My mind in a panic as I came to terms with who my soulmate was, the ex Winter Soldier, James Buchanan Barnes.
After a while of silent panic, I heard a soft knock on the door.
"It's Rouge, your best friend who will support whatever decision you decide on. Can I come in?"
I let out an airy laugh at her words, wiping the stray tears away as I stretched my stiff limbs out, opening the door to let her in.
"I think the parties officially over. Everyone's drunk, passed out on the floor." She then proceeded to take a seat by my spot on the bed as she regarded me with clear eyes.
"Don't make a decision yet, take it from me, you'll regret it. Come on, its late, sleep on it."
I nodded, knowing that it was virtually impossible to make such a life changing choice while I was panicked and already half asleep. So I laid down, pulling the covers over my spent form as Rouge left momentarily to grab her pillow before settling in the worn out spot beside me.

"I-I don't know if I should do this Rouge. I-I mean, w-what if it's to soon? W-What if he rejects me because of my power? W-What if-"
"Hey. Relax." She jumped in front of me, blocking my view of the tower as she clasps her hands on my shoulders, though carful of the one with the mark. "It'll be fine, stop panicking, remember, and I quote you word for word, 'I'll meet him just so I know, then if it doesn't work, it doesn't work'."
"Y-Yes I said that b-but-"
"No buts unless it's yours walking into that lobby."
I let out a resigned sigh, looking down at my casual dress, a pair of faded jeans and a (f/c) shirt, the gray going past the short sleeves.
"Come with me, please. You know how I can get"
I pouted my lip out, giving her my best puppy eyes, feeling her cave under the look until she let out a sigh as she pulled away from me.
"Ok, ok geez, stop with the adorableness, you tainting my dark soul."
I let out a sound of happiness as I grabbed her hand, gently swinging it as I felt better, though that was short lived when we actually got into the elevators using the whole 'we're the X-Men' crap. I was a fidgeting mess as I watched the number count up, trying to contain my wolf, but it was easier said than done.
"Hey, relax, it's ok, everything's fine. I'll make sure to get you out of here if the atmosphere turns sour, trust me."
I relaxed my shoulders, but my muscles were still tense due to nerves. I almost died when the doors opened up into a living room with a soft ding, fisting my hands as I willed my claws to stay hidden.
"Hello," A high pitched, feminine voice resounded through the empty room.
As she rounded the corner, I instantly recognized her as the Scarlet Witch, Wanda, the newest member.
"If you don't mind, can you wait for a minute, there's been an....incident in the training room, but they should all be here shortly. Do you mind if I keep you company?"
I knew what she was doing, they did the same tactic at the school. Send a mind reader, in our case Jean, to check our intentions. Make sure we are who we say we are, and that we meant no harm, so I gave Rouge a side eye. She gave me an inconspicuous pat on the side, letting me know that she understood what they were doing as well as she gave her an understanding nod with a smile.
"Of course, and you have my permission to read my mind."
"Mine too." I threw out as I sat up straighter, giving her a shy smile as well.
She widened her eyes as she took us in, letting out a cute giggle as she moved onto the chair across from us.
"Well, I'm impressed. Do they do the same at the school?
Something about her made me relax, had me answering as my tense muscles deflated.
"Ya, her names Jean. Next time you visit you should talk, her powers are similar to your."
"That......that would be nice, I'll be sure to do that-"
She paused, giving a vague hand gesture for me to finish the sentence.
"(Y/n), Nice to finally meet you."
I shook her hand, feeling the familiar sensation I always felt when Jean had to dig in my memories, but this was different. When she came to the blockage I've placed, she didn't push, respecting the boundaries.
"Ohhh, I see", With that, she pulled away with a wide smile on her face, making me turn all kinds of red.
I heard Rouge laugh at the display as she leaned closer to the red head.
"I know right...and you wouldn't believe how long it took me to convince her to come here."
"I bet, she's so shy but that only makes her cuter." She said with a giggle.
"Hey! Stop tag teaming me, that's unfair."
The two gave me a pointed look as they full out laughed, acting like they've known each other for years.
"Hey Jar. call everyone up."
"Of course"
Oh God it's happening!!
I fiddle nervously with my fingers as Rouge and Wanda got cozy together, building an easy friendship. All to soon, I heard the doors slide open, revealing the rest of the team. They trickled in with practiced calm, the complete opposite of how I felt.
My eyes searched the crowd none the less, looking for the tuft of raven hair, but found none. I deflated, suddenly disappointed, but of course Rouge saw it, and, like the good friend she was, walked over to the billionaire, Tony Stark. Everyone paused to watch the scene, while I was absolutely horrified. Knowing that she wasn't afraid of the powerful man and would be blunt with him.
She walked up to Tony with a determined look, ignoring his shocked yet amused expression as she hovered a hand over his chest.
"Where's James Barnes?"
He opened his mouth, as if he wanted to say something, but instead, he let out a snort and a laugh as he walked into her space. I commend her for holding her ground though, most others would coward down, like myself, and apologize for speaking to him like that.
"He's down in the training room, cupcake." he shot back in a cocky tone as his smirk widened.
She just smiles back.
"Thanks, metal man."
Without another word, she turned sharply, walking over to me and Wanda with a shit eating grin. "Can you show us down Wanda?"
"O-O-Of course, follow me."
I let her drag me into the elevator, catching her childishly stick her tongue out at Tony in victory before the doors trapped us inside.
I snickered as I looked over at her sedated self, "Your so childish."
"And your not?"
"Alright, point taken", I raised my hands up with an airy chuckle, "but, if I didn't know any better, You and Tony really hit it off."
She looked horrified for a minute before she fell into a fit of coughs. Straightening herself as she addressed me with a tone of humor.
"As if, his cocky attitude pisses me off."
At that Wanda let out a drawn out 'hmm', but before I could tease her further, the doors opened into a spacious training room.
I was paralyzed as I saw the shiny strands of black hair, swallowing as he stood up with his back facing us.
My eyes trailed up his muscled form, pausing slightly on his metal arm. The same star on the shoulder that rested on mine.
"Good luck!"
I turned in a panic, watching on in horror as Rouge and Wanda waved bye to me as the elevator door shut.
Well that's terrific.
I turned back with a sigh that soon turned into a surprised yelp as I made eyes contact with James. His piercing blue eyes wide in shock as he met my (e/c) eyes. He felt it, just like I did. the cord tying us together, causing a heat to make my mark flare up in a frenzy.
I stood like a deer in headlights as he cautiously took a step towards me, then another.
I found myself waiting for him, to talk to him, but then my panic got the best of me as I backed up. Each step he took, I took one back, until my back made contact with the wall. My eyes frantically looking anywhere but at him, until he was before me.
I-I can't do this!
My heart threatened to beat out of my chest as I went to make a break for it, but firm arms blocked me immediately, boxing me in.
My eyes closed instinctually, clamping my mouth shut as I felt the canines sharpen. His scent turning my insides, rousing my inner animal, but I forced it down.
"So your my soulmate. I-I felt you yesterday, your strong emotions translated through the bond."
I flinched, he felt everything, my fear, my utter joy, my panic. Part of me wondered how the bond became strong enough where he could feel it so soon. I guess waiting so long for me must have caused the bond to strengthen on his part.
Then I stopped all together, realizing that he had to feel my hesitation, my resolve, but also my fear and rising panic.
Oh no.
I ducked my head down as much as the space between us would allow, which wasn't much, trying to hide, but it was fruitless. My wolf was excited that we've found him, our soulmate, and so before I could slip away, I felt Bucky move closer to me, keeping me boxed in. I closed my eyes again, getting ready for the rejection as my brown, fluffy ears and tail popped out. My canines digging into my gums, but I refused to open my mouth, to degrade myself even more.
I held my breath as we stood there, taking In each others warmth.
"Jarvis, lock this floor from anyone else."
"Of course Barnes"
I flinched as I heard locks push into place all around the space, my enhanced hearing causing me more anxiety than good right now.
That all changed though when I felt a warm hand rub behind my ear, causing me to grown as I relaxed my tense form unwillingly.
"Relax doll, that's it. I swear your just so much more adorable like this."
I hummed back in answer, not fully computing his words as I registered his metal arm wrap around my waist. Letting out a yelp as I was lifted in the air, wrapping my limbs around him as I was soon gently placed onto a high up work out bench. My feet were dangling over the edge as he loomed over my form, only slightly though since I was higher up.
"What's your name doll?"
"(Y/n)" I whispered, my face turning red as his face migrated closer to mine.
"Well it's nice to finally meet you after all these years", He smiled, and it was full of love as he slowly enveloped me in a hug. His head resting in the crook of my neck as he rubbed my ears, moving down to graze the beginnings of my tail. Not expecting the sudden contact though, I let out a wine as he touched the sensitive spot, my nails digging into his shoulders as I wiggled in my spot.
"So How 'bout we get to know each other"
