Josie McCoy stopped in her tracks. Piano keys. She was outside the music room at Riverdale High at 10 pm. Why is someone here so late?

'So I heard you found somebody else
And at first I thought it was a lie
I took all my things that make sounds
The rest I can do without'

a guys voice sang beautifully.

I don't want your body
But I hate to think about you with somebody else
Our love has gone cold
You're intertwining your soul with somebody else'

the door was open but she couldn't bring herself to look inside. What if it was someone creepy and they tried to do something to her.

I'm looking through you while you're looking through your phone
And then leaving with somebody else
No, I don't want your body
But I'm picturing your body with somebody else

Josie doubted anyone with such a beautiful voice would cause her harm

Come on baby
This ain't the last time that I'll see your face
Come on baby
You said you'd find someone to take my place

Maybe it was a ghoulie. Or a serpent.

I just don't believe that you have got it in you 'cause
We are just gonna keep 'doin' it' and everytime
I start to believe in anything you're saying
I'm reminded that I should be getting over it
I don't want your body

Fuck it. She thought. She was right, it was a serpent. But it was Jughead Jones. She knew Jughead, they've never really talked but they were in the same friend group. He wouldn't hurt a fly.

But I hate to think about you with somebody else
Our love has gone cold
You're intertwining your soul with somebody else

His back was facing the door. He didn't notice her and kept going.

I'm looking through you while you're looking through your phone
And then leaving with somebody else
No, I don't want your body

That's when her pen, the one she uses to write songs fell from her hand to the floor

His eyes followed the noise to the door. He grew embarrassed at first.

"Who knew the south side king was so talented." Josie smiled, picked up her pen and walked over, sitting right by him.

"Tell anyone and I'll murder you" Jughead said, mostly jokingly. "What are you doing here it's-" he picked his phone up. "10:20"

"What are you doing here"she emphasized the you.

"I asked you first." Jughead said.

"I come here to think, and sing. Now what are you doing out so late? I mean I know the serpent king can handle a little darkness but.." Josie asked.

"Oh- Umm Betty broke up with me." Jughead said making Josie gasp. "Yeah, after 4 years of dating she decided maybe Archie would be a better match for her" Jughead grinned.

"Jug. I'm so sorry. I truly thought you two were meant to be." Josie said.

"Well, all good things come to an end. Time for me to move on." He sighed.

She noticed the notebook on his lap. "any original songs?"

Jug nods.

"Can we sing one together?" Josie asked.

"I guess, if you really want to" Jughead says and Josie nods cheerfully making Jughead chuckle.

"Alright lets do this one." Jughead places the lined notebook in front of the two.

He started playing the piano softly. "You start" he whispered.

When I first saw you didn't know what to think

Josie began.

But something about you is so interesting
I could see me and you being best friends
The kind of friends that finish each other's sentences

She kept her gaze on his fingers. They danced on the piano so lightly and carefully.

When I can't think of the right words to say
I just sing oh oh oh oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh

She was fully aware his gaze was on her

Come on and harmonize with my melody
And we'll sing oh oh oh oh oh oh oh
Ain't it a perfect harmony

I would have never thought I'd be here with you

Jughead began singing

To start a friendship that is so brand new
It's so amazing I have to say

She looked at him singing. He looked so good, so carefree.

Never met someone that had so much in common with me
Now I can look into your eyes all day
And just say

oh oh oh oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh
I wanna harmonize with your melody
And we'll sing

oh oh oh oh oh oh oh
Ain't it a perfect harmony

Sometimes in your lifetime you
Look and you search for someone just to care
Look around and it was there
And didn't need to go no where
When I can't think of the right words to say (right words to say)
I just sing oh oh oh oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh

They both turned to face each other

Come on and harmonize with my melody
And we'll sing oh oh oh oh oh oh oh
Ain't it a perfect harmony
You got me (I got you)
I got you (You got me)
Yeah you got me (I got you)
A perfect harmony

As soon as the last note ended, they leaned in quicker than they have with anyone else. Like a magnet, their lips were drawn to each other.

Her lips were larger than his but that didn't stop him from taking control of the kiss and deepening it.

His fingers that were once on the piano were now on her thigh. His other hand around the back of her neck, careful not to touch the hair out of respect.

She smiled on the kiss and brought his hand to her hair, granting him permission.

Her hand was wrapped around a section of his hair, tugging slightly. The other on his shoulder.

They were interrupted with a gasp. Betty.
