February 14, 2020. A day like any other, for most that is. But for me, it's my third year wedding anniversary. Yet I have to work on this day, and it's not like I can take the day off. Living paycheck to paycheck doesn't give the option for a day off. A nice dinner, champagne, 2 dozen red roses. Uh-huh, dream on. Cheeseburger, fries, and a coke. Maybe even a rose or two, that's only if I can steal, I mean "borrow" from the neighbor's yard. Damn, she deserves much more, yet I just can't do it.
So what does a man who's thinking of his wife do on such a special day? Naturally, I text her and tell her how lucky I am to have her in my life and that I love her with all my heart; Send. BANG! BANG! Multiple shots fired suddenly and with no warning it happened. I had been shot as I could feel my life ending before me. In the distance, I could hear a response text coming into my phone. But there is no way I can get it. I can't even move or even open my eyes for that matter. As I slowly slip away into the abyss not knowing where I'll wind up.
In other news, a local man receives a gunshot to the head. The man was rushed to Lincoln Memorial Hospital and is not expected to survive. Witnesses say the man received the bullet from a drive-by shooting between two rival gangs of the area. The man's phone was found on the scene where his wife was informed of the incident in part thanks to the respoceral text she had sent. Police informed the woman what had taken place as she and later arrived at the hospital.
