"Sweet, you should fuck him," Esme mumbled, head tilted back, smoke escaping slowly from her pretty lips.
I almost spit out my drink.
"Wait what? Sex?!"
Heavy arms wrapped themselves around my shoulders and I heard a deep laugh in my ear.
"Come on, Es, you know our little angel would never do that," Chase laughed.
Chase as in Chase Dolan: our school's celebrated rebel. Two years ago, Chase got expelled after pictures of him urinating in our principle's garden went viral and reached the teachers. Since then, the students at my school regarded him as sort of a legend. Personally, I don't know what's legendary about getting expelled for being a moron.
Chase has recently filled in the role of Esme's temporary fling and now, here I am, watching Esme, her fling and unfamiliar nineteen year old college boys smoke weed and moan about their 'old man' because she begged me to go with her.
The other boys were a little further away from us, messing around.
"Just in case something happens," she had said. I don't exactly know what she meant, but why would you want to hang out with people if you don't feel all the way comfortable with them alone?
I shrugged his arms off from around me. Little angel?
"You just said he's French," Esme continued, "Like, you have to do this. For me."
Esme had casually brought up the subject of Elio, asking me how attractive I found him after I told her about him a few days ago.
I looked at her curiously.
"What is your obsession with him being French?"
"Oh, haven't you heard? The French are nasty in bed."
"Uh, no, actually, I haven't?"
"I'm nasty in bed and I'm not French," Noah smirked, a joint dangling out of his mouth.
Esme and I rolled our eyes simultaneously.
An hour later, what was initially a casual hang out at the beach turned into a full on beach party with more people and a bonfire.
With the setting sun came a sky of fire and auburn tinted clouds. The sunset is merely a prelude to dawn, but to me it is the prettiest transition I could ever witness.
The atmosphere was amazingly laid back, content and I was actually happy that I agreed to come. The light sound of chatter and laughter balanced perfectly well with the voice of Tame Impala.
I was sat on the sand, conversing with Esme and Chase some distance away from the bonfire. He was actually quite funny. Then a more upbeat song came on and Chase pulled me up to dance with him.
I looked over to Esme and of course she was fine with it; he was just a casual fling and she didn't believe in monogamy anyways. She just went to mingle with some of the other college people.
