After school, I started walking to my car when Asher stopped me.
"Listen". he said. "I think we both know that this situation sucks. "
Really? I didn't know that, I thought.
"I hate working with others, especially snobby, entitled girls."
"Excuse me?" I asked him rudely, shocked with what he just said.
"First of all Asher, you don't know me. And second, I am nothing like what you just said."
"Every chick in this stupid school is the same. " he replied. Trying to be like everyone else, and only caring about themselves. "
I didnt know how to respond. All I know was I was pissed.
I went to open my mouth and say something when he talked first.
"Getting through this year is important to me. And I don't need anything, or anyone , messing this up for me."
Then he walked away and got into a black Nissan, which was different from all the expensive cars in the lot.
I ran to my car, sat down and the tears came down. This school, this town, is horrible, I thought.
I drove home and immediately went to my room and laid down.
Next thing I knew I heard knocking at my bedroom door.
"Go away. " I yelled.
My door swung open, and I saw my mom barging in.
"Get out." I yelled.
"I was just wondering how your day went." my mom asked.
Isn't it obvious this day was shit. I thought.
"Mom, not once when we lived in the apartment did you ask about my day." I yelled. "Now all of a sudden you are a mother who gives a shit."
She looked at me shocked by my words.
"Listen Embry Jo." she said. "I do not like the way you have been acting ever since we moved here. You now have everything and anything you could ever want in life, so there is no reason to act like this."
She slammed my door shut.
Times like this is when I missed my dad the most.
All of a sudden my door flew open again.
"Get out." I yelled.
I saw that it was my little brother Max.
"Huh." he asked, shocked by my temper.
"Oh I'm sorry Max. I've had a bad day. What can I do for you?"
"I just wanted to tell you about my awesome day. " he replied with joy. "Middle school is so cool. I have my own locker and everything."
I looked at Max and couldn't help but smile. He looked so much like our dad. He had dark brown hair and blue eyes, just like my dad did. He's tall for a 12 year old.
I grabbed him and hugged him.
"I'm glad you had an awesome day." I told him.
"Do you want to come down for dinner." he asked.
"Sure."
I walked down the stairs with him and I could smell something good.
I went into the dining room and saw a whole bunch of food.
There was fried chicken, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, broccoli, salad, and rolls.
I saw Henry sitting at the far end of the table, next to my mom.
"Hello, Embry." Henry said. "I hope you are hungry. Francesca has made us quite a meal."
Francesca was our maid and cook. Again, something rich people have.
I sat down, and heard my stomach growl. I was quite hungry.
We all passed around the food and ate quietly. I'm glad that no questions were being asked about my day. I didn't want to get upset again.
I finished eating and got up to put my plate in the kitchen.
"Let me do that. " Francesca said, grabbing my plate.
"Oh I can do it." I told her.
She looked at me and smiled, as if nobody has ever offered to help her.
I thanked her for the delicious meal, and then ran upstairs before I could be interrupted with any questions.
I did my homework and decided to Google Shakespeare, and his plays.
There was a lot to choose from. I closed my computer, thinking about how I am going to complete this assignment with a total ass hole as my partner.
I thought about Asher and wondered why he was so angry and why he hated every girl in school.
I decided to take a hot shower to calm my nerves.
After I finished, I looked through my box of clothes to look for something to wear to bed.
I chose some sweats and a long t-shirt that was my dads and said 'Yellowstone' on it.
I sighed, thinking about the trip that me, my dad, and Max took to Yellowstone National Park.
I fell asleep with the memory of the good times.
