Tombelle | A Special Love Story

Chapter 3

-Tom Nook-

It's time. Time for Tom Nook to go do something with his life. Quit his shitty job at Club LOL. Move out of his small apartment with broken air conditioning. Do something important and good for himself. Maybe get himself a partner. Who knows? Tom certainly doesn't, but there is one thing that he does know: that when he moves out he will finally be able to live his life without crying himself to sleep every night. There's something for him to look forward to.

It was May 30th, Tom's birthday, and he had finally acquired the courage to quit his job, and let's just say his manager didn't react well at all. Tom appreciated his manager's reaction, though, it was something else to push him to leave Hikoshi. He arrived home after an hour or so of not giving a crap about the lecture his manager was giving him about how he was a disgrace to the world and packed his bags and left the apartment. And finally, after officially being kicked out of the place, he stuck his middle finger of his left paw up at the apartment block and away feeling prouder than ever before. Best birthday present ever, and the first one in years.

That was it. Tom Nook didn't have a home or a job, but something he did have for the first time in forever was a sense of belief in himself. He finally felt like he could be himself and do what he always wanted to do. If only he actually knew what he wanted do.

He hopped in his parents' old car - his last birthday present from 5 years ago - that hadn't been used in years. A rusty thing it was, and probably had no chance of taking him anywhere special before it broke down and never started again. That thought didn't stop Tom; he was so determined to go somewhere and do something he didn't care if he had to walk on his own four paws for most of the journey. His body filled with adrenaline as he turned the key and kicked the car to make it start, and then drove off to the old road in the deserted countryside at the outskirts of the city.

Goodbye Hikoshi, see you never again lol he thought to himself and smiled I'm so glad to be leaving you horrible place, horrible people. I hate you!

A couple of hours passed and Tom Nook's car was still going strong, which he was extremely impressed with. He was now about a hundred miles away from Hikoshi and was on a lonely road that seemed to be going to nowhere, but his gut told him it was the right way, and so he carried on going. Paw down on the accelerator and away he went zooming down the road. Say 'zooming' his rusty car couldn't go particularly fast.

It couldn't go fast but it had taken him far. Far enough to find something a bit away from the side of the road. He couldn't quite make out what it was but he was filled with hope that he was nearly at civilisation.

He carried on driving. Nothing in sight. No cities. No towns. Nothing at all. What was that thing? The suspense was killing Tom Nook, so he turned around and began to drive back to see what on Earth someone could have left in the middle of nowhere...

Even more miles away from Tom Nook now, Isabelle and her family were enjoying themselves at their large home in Riddle. The date was May 30th, which Isabelle had just realised. She looked down at her phone:

Isabelle let a tear roll down her cheek. Why did her family have to move out of Hikoshi? She let Tom Nook down. They were best friends. Best friends.

I really miss you Tom, I really do. I'm so mad at myself for thinking going to medical school in Riddle would be better than staying in Hikoshi with you. I can't imagine how you feel now, being the only animal in Hikoshi Isabelle's mind races

Filled with guilt, Isabelle turns off her phone and tries to take her mind off the matter. She goes to Digby's room and asks what he's up to, only to find out that he had been plotting a plan to get away from Riddle and their controlling parents to go start a better life somewhere completely different.
