No. It had to be coincidental. This wasn't some fantasy love story, Alex told himself, this was real life. Stuff didn't play out like that in real life.
He started running through a mental checklist, just to make sure he had everything for school. English folder, debate club notes, math binder, science notebook, history textbook, history binder. Everything was there. He sighed and leaned his head back against the bus window. Somehow, knowing that this was merely coincidence didn't make his day any better.
And so finally, after several long minutes of bus ride, they pulled into the school. Every student stood up and a haze of chatter fell over the space, as each individual began the shuffle towards the school building. Alex shoved his hands into his hoodie pocket and also began the shuffle. He was rather thankful that Macaronus (it still sounded absurd to even think it) had suggested a shower, otherwise he would have felt particularly gross and greasy.
But he didn't feel gross and greasy. He felt clean. Still tired, but clean, and it was very much thanks to Macaronus. And so he decided to put that thought into practice.
boyingreen: hey, thanks for having me shower lastnight. i feel a lot better than i would've if i hadn't...taken a shower.
Macaronus: no problem darling, what are friends for?
boyingreen: hah, you're right. i'll have to return the favor someday.
Macaronus: i'll be sure to hold it over your head until you do ;D
boyingreen: pffffft. oh shit, it's later than I thought and i gotta get to class-
Macaronus: no worries, we'll chat later.Feeling quite contented with himself, Alex was satisfied to shuffle along the hallways to his first class. AP English III, one of his favorites. He wrote prolifically, and thus was one of the teacher's favorites. If that teacher could even feel enough love to pick a favorite. Professor [name] was crude, to say the least.
