Four months ago. Manhattan Police Department

"Where is she?"

The older man behind the front desk of the manhattan Police department flips through his magazine.

I narrow my eyes as I slam my hand down on the desk.

The older man jumps a little as I startle him. "What the hell..."

"I asked where is she?"

"Hey, hey.. I got this." The younger sergeant walks over grabbing my arm. "Come with me."

I glare at the man behind the desk as I move with the sergeant. "What the hell is going on Buchanan?"

His bright blue eyes look at me through the chaos of the police department.

"Buchanan?"

"She was found in a brownstone with several others." He steps to the side as I look down seeing her in the corner with her knees pulled tight into her chest.

I shake my head back at the scene.

"I got it written off but Brooklyn."

"Yea, I know Buchanan, things aren't good." I rub my face.

"Just get her out of here Brooklyn." He unlocks the door as she doesn't move.

I chew on my lip as I walk in grabbing her arm, "Harlow, we need to leave now."

Harlow pulls her arm away from me.

"Please Harlow, don't do this to me." I look at her.

She shoves me a little as she finally gets to her feet.

I see the scars on her arms as I look back at Buchanan. "Thank you seriously, thank you."

He nods his head at me as I turn following Harlow out of the police department.

Harlow crosses her arms heading to my car.

"I have to get back to the hospital to finish my rounds."

Harlow doesn't speak.

"I am going to take you over to the apartment."

Harlow still doesn't speak.

I lick my lip starting the car. "Great talk Harlow."

Harlow glares over at me. "You are a bitch."

"Now she speaks."

"Bitch."

I nod my head driving back to the building. "Of course, I get you out of jail and I am the bitch. Thanks. You know maybe you should be looking at who left you. He didn't come back to save your ass. He left you. Alone in that place."

"He couldn't come back for me."

"Yea Harlow, because he left you behind!"

"NO he didn't!" She screams at me.

I shake my head. "When are you gonna listen to me about this."

"I love him!"

"Harlow, he isn't good for you."

"You know nothing about what is good for me or not!"

I glance over at her.

"You have been lonely for so long! You will always be lonely!" She slams the car door heading into the building.

I sit back into my seat watching her.

I shake my head, rubbing my ring finger. "Yea Harlow, always alone."

Manhattan Mercy General

I walk over grabbing a set of charts.

"Girl, you look like shit."

My eyes drift up to the other nurse, Andy Graham.

"Like a big pile of horse shit."

"Oh thanks Andy." I snort at her.

Andy grins at me. "You missed some rounds."

"I had to handle something."

"Oh, she isn't doing good, is she?"

"No, another party with Kal."

Andy rolls her eyes back at me. "God he is like a pest."

"No he is worse than that." I read over the charts. "Is Ms. Lopez really still here?"

"Yea, she won't poop." Andy checks her phone.

"God, what is wrong with these patients tonight." I look over the chart again when I smell the coffee.

Andy keeps smiling at her phone.

"Who.. the .... Heck..."

"Another late shift means you need the good coffee."

I finally looked up past his SWAT gear.

"Hey Captain." Andy giggles from the other side of the desk.

"Hey Andy." The captain smirks back at her as he stays close to me.

"Thanks for the coffee." I mumble back at him.

"Oh come on, you love Mocha." He smiles back at me.

I nod grabbing my charts heading down the hallway.

"Don't take it personal Cap, she had to deal with Harlow again."

"That is the fourth time this week and it's only Tuesday."

Andy shakes her head, "Listen, Brooke loves that kid and she will always protect her. Harlow losing her mother like that, it is just disgusting."

The cap plays with one of the leaves of the flowers.

"Boy, you need to get your head out of your ass if you want to hang with Brooklyn."

The Cap glares at her.

"My point, take her out. Woo her."

"You don't woo Brooklyn."

"Smart boy." Andy smirks walking down the hallway.

I walk down the hallway looking over the charts as I put them back leaning against the wall taking a moment.

"You need a break."

I look over at him. "You need to go back to work."

"I think you need a break Brooklyn." He walks closer to me.

"Cap, please don't." I put my hand up pushing into his vest.

He nods listening to me.

My eyes snap down the hallway hearing the alarms and screams.

I take off running into the trauma room seeing them.

The paramedic pushes hard on her chest.

"I have no pulse!" One of the nurses shouts.

"Brooke, you shouldn't be here." Andy grabs my arms.

"That's... Andy that's!"

"I know, i know but you can't!" Andy shoves me a little.

I watch her body limp on the table.

"I have no pulse!" The nurse shouts again.

"Andy..."

Andy holds me close. "I know Brooke..."

My lip shakes as everything becomes quiet.

Everything around me going silent.

No nurses screaming.

No drip bag alarms going off.

The world is silent.

My world has become silent.
