"After senior year, you'll be married to my closest friend's daughter" His father's words appeared out of the blue during a fantastic dinner made by his mother.
Jungkook, the eldest son, choked on his steak in the middle of chewing. Upon hearing the CEOs words, he had no choice but to either spit it in his face or choke. He chose to choke.
"Father-?" He finally forced out the word, strained and low, he struggled with the unexpected news. "When-" he stopped himself after wiping his teary eyes only to see that the man of the house across from him glared with death behind it.
"Is there a problem?" He questioned with a warning tone through clenched teeth. His father never liked when someone went against his desicions. Although, only one person was ever allowed to.
"This is the first Im hearing our oldest son is going to marry a girl he barely knows" she spoke, Jungkooks mother. His father turned his head in her direction. The one and only to ever put him down without uttering a word and only through eyes.
"Honey, my friend owns a company that expands overseas. His daughter admires Jungkook very much, I'm sure they'll get along well" he explained to his wife.
Jungkook on the other hand sat there. He dug his nails into his hands, bit the inside of his cheek to the point he started to bleed. He hated it. No matter who it was, he didn't want to marry a girl he has no interest in.
"Jungkook" he looked up at the sound of his mothers soothing voice. "Do you want to marry after graduation?" She asked, although he just stared at her. He didn't know if he should answer truthfully or lie to please his own father.
"I-" before he could finish what he started, the younger brother didn't hesitate to throw mashed potatoes. It perfectly landed on Jungkooks head.
"Haha! I was aiming at your face sorry" he apologized with an evil chuckle following right after. "Sulen!" The mother stood to her feet, the chair she sat on flipped behind her and the table shook at her rage.
"Honey-" This time Jungkook cut off his father. "No, I don't want to marry" he whispered. Like magic, the mothers rage dissipated and the brothers annoying smile faltered. All there was was silence. Almost like he just admited murder.
"Jung-"
"But" he stood up, taking a handful of the mashed potatoes placed on his head and put them back at where they used to be. On Sulens plate. "If I get a girlfriend before graduation, I'll refuse to marry your friends daughter. If I don't have one...I'll marry her…" he hesitated on the last part. He didn't like this idea himself but if it goes well, he can be free from his father.
The room became deadly silent, the two men of the home glaring eachother down, both determined to make the other one falter. Jungkooks eyes burned with hope while his father's was ice cold. Elements that hate each other, one touch and they'll cancel each other out. Like fire and water. They wanted to see who'll distinguish first.
"I think that's a great idea" The soothing voice broke the two stubborn gazes allowing it to travel to the owner. "Mom?" "Honey?" Both said simultaneously, surprised by her sudden agreement with Jungkook.
"It's a 50/50 chance" she shrugged, Jungkook took that to offence. "What do you mean 50/50 chance?" He asked feeling this burning hope slightly dim. "Your afraid of girl Jungkook...if your going to get a girlfriend, you'll have to overcome that fear" then it hit him like a tidal wave.
He's afraid of girls. It never crossed his mind, this whole time, he said what he said with confidence when he was afraid of women. So how will he find a girlfriend?
"Alright" his father spoke up. "Clean this up will you" he demanded Jungkook, everyone left the dinner table, leaving a baffled Jungkook to stare at his steak. "Im such an idiot" he fell into his seat, pinching the bridge of his nose. "I'm going to loose" he sighed.

He threw his backpack under the desk. Ever since last night, Jungkook felt the need to jump a cliff, run in front of a car, or buy a gun. Instead, he buried this feeling deep into the pits of caution.
"Hey JK!!" A smack was felt on his back, even then he didn't even lift a finger. "Is everything alright? Usually you'll be running down the halls after me" Jin, the only person he allowed in his life to know everything from childhood.
"No, everything isn't alright...I was told to get married to a random girl for profit after graduation but I said only if I don't have a girlfriendughhh" his head lost strength, his body went out, his whole self landed on the desk. He couldn't do it anymore. He hated himself and his very existance.
"Thats stupid, your fear of girls will only make it impossible" Jin sat in front if Jungkook. "Thanks for pointing out the obvious" he growled. Then an idea popped into his head.
"What if I chose a girl in the shadows, someone not too clingy, knows the boundaries, understand where I'm coming from, and is decent looking" Jungkook smiled, he looked at Jin, praying to the gods that he has someone in mind.
With pursed lips, Jin couldn't exactly think of one. "Well, theres the nerd of the school. 3 people who aren't obsessed with you and need something extremely important" Jin's voice lowered. He leaned in.
Jungkook also leaned in. He was curious as to what his friend has to say and what these people need.
"Money" then Jungkook grabbed his wallet.

"Theres the three people I'm talking about" Jin pointed to a table in the center of the cafeteria, two of the three sat together laughing and enjoying their meals. They bumped into each othet everytime the other made them laugh too hard.
"No" Jungkook immediately said. "What? Why? I scoped out these women for you because I thought something like this would happen so I would appreciate it if you just considered approaching them to see if they really ARE what you need in the girl. After all your going to practically buy them so why not just-" Jin started to go into rapping mode until Jungkook grabbed his cheeks and forced him to look back at the table.
There, the two girls Jin thought would be good for Jungkook, lifted their phones and aimed the camera in the direction the friends sat at. They both giggled, laughed, until the flash of their camera exposed what they did.
"Oh" Jin stared at the two surprised they just took photos of the two, possibly of Jungkook though. "Nevermind then" Jin sighed. "Wheres the other one?" Jungkook asked as he picked at the food on his tray. His appetite falling the more he felt phones and cameras on him. Eyes on him.
"Over there" Jin pointed his thumb towards the corner, there sat a single girl. She ate her tray full of food while on her phone. Beside her tray laid a packet with amounts of work possibly due the next day. Then she set her phone down, took another bite, and scribbled whatever on the paper. No one paid attention to her, no one cared.
For the first time in his 19 years of life (korean age), he actually wanted to walk over to a girl to get to know her. "Whats her name?" He looked at Jin, waiting for the answer.
"Kiarah" he simply responded shoving some food into his mouth to chew in pout. "She's the schools ace, shes good at everything but no one notices her. I didn't until I was looking around for a girl with your taste. Apparently she's struggling with living expenses and needs to buy food. Thats what the teachers told me" He chugged down his milk.
"Well...looks like I found my savior" Jungkook smiled, picking up the food in his tray, he ate his first bite without feeling the need to throw it up.
"Who are you calling savior? IM the one who found hER!" Jin said in offence.
