"Beep, Beep, Beep, Beep", Ugh when will I ever get rid of this alarm! I slowly opened my eyes, flickering them a couple of times to see the sun directly shining on me through my embroided pink curtains. I got out of bed, and suddenly tripped on my slippers, still feeling sleepy. I just hope my first day of high school isn't this clumsy. I dragged myself across my bedroom and slowly opened the bathroom door. I switched the light switch on and groaned as the bright light blinded me for a few seconds. I always hated getting out of the comfort of sleeping. After I did the normal routine of brushing my teeth and washing my face, I found my self staring at the mirror wondering about my imperfections. Are my teeth ever going to have the diamond shine in them? Are my cheek bones ever going to be visible? Are my dense, brown waves ever going to be silky straight? Will I ever wear contacts instead of my my Ray Bans? Will I ever be perfect? "Hurry up honey, you don't want to be late on your first day," my mom reminded. I got out of the bathroom and went to my closet to pick out the dress i've putting together for the past two months. I wanted everything to be perfect because as they say, 'The First impression is Always the Last Impression'. I quickly changed into a white top with a white netted cardigan, and peachish-pink jeans. I walked to my dresser to brush my still wet hair from last night's shower and pulled it up into a messy bun. I paired the outfit with my Ray Bans, silver owl earrings and necklace, white flats, and a white crossbody that had a cute bow on it (the only chance I get to wear it considering that we don't need backpacks on the first day of school). I hurried out to the dining table to find a garden omlet, a glass of milk, and a small bowl of almonds staring back at me. I sat down and finished my breakfast. As I was heading toward the door, my mom got a hold of my shoulder to stop me. I turned around, and saw her smiling her warm smile at me and said "I'll drop you off today". I smiled back at her, glad that I won't have to ride the crazy bus for atleast this morning.
As we sat in the car, I was stinged by the cool leather of the Chevrolet Captiva. I eased out a little after my mom turned on the seat heater and I felt warm again. We started to head towards the main exit of our community, when my mom asked, "Did you pick up your luch from the counter? ". "Yes, I did mom," I replied. The rest of the ride to school was pretty quite. As we reached Rhine High, I took in the breathless sight. It had high walls and it looked like five buildings put together to form an enormous one. Students lingered around in the lawn outside. It seemed like most of them were having a reunion.
"Bye hon, try not to divert your attention. You know your goals for this year," my mom reminded. "Bye mom, don't worry, I won't, " I replied.
I reminded myself that no matter what comes in my way, whether it be an ant or a bulldozer, it will definitely not stop me from getting all A's. GPA is in effect, and I can't jeopardize it at all.
As I entered Rhine High with my head bowed and all these thoughts running through my mind, I suddenly bumped into someone. As I looked up, I saw a girl with the sweetest face. She had brown hair that were curled towards the back, chocolatey eyes that sparkled with joy, and pink glossy lips. She suddenly reminded me of my best friend from middle school and my face turned even more tense.
"I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to..,"I nervously chanted but she cut me off by saying,  "It's okay, it happens. You look new here, but don't worry I'm new too. My name is Stelle Martin." I smiled back, relieved that I didn't completely crush my hopes for making a new friend and replied, "My name is Corrine Matthew."
"Do you want to come to the registeration table to see which advisory we're in?" she asked.
"Sure," I replied.
I searched for my name on the list for last names that start with 'M' and found my advisory class is with Mr. Holt in V-6.
"I'm in Mr.Holt's class for advisory," I informed Stelle.
"Really, O..M..G, Me too!" she exclaimed.
I felt my relief expression coming to my face. I don't know why I felt so comfortable with her, it was like we were meant to be friends.
We walked together to advisory and settled in our seats. Even though the seating was in alphabetical order, we sat together because our last names were together. Soon after the pledge, Mr.Holt passed out the forms for almost EVERYTHING that was possibly offered by high school. I was only waiting for one thing now...my schedule. My stomach was doing flips, turning and twisting, making my face get that tense look again. I knew what was going to be on my schedule, but I was worried if I could make new friends. I've always been the the type of girl who didn't have the best communication skills. It was always hard for me to make new friends because I didn't have the courage to go up and talk to anyone. I guess my lack of friends is the reason why I made decent grades. I had no one but my books and Mellony, but even she...
"What are you thinking about?" Stelle questioned while studying the intense expression on my face.
"Nothing," I replied with blankness in my tone.
I noticed Mr.Holt handing out schedules to the students. When he got to me, my lips pressed into a thin line as I prayed to have most classes with Stelle.
I unfolded the piece of paper and examined my schedule.
"Can I see yours?" Stelle asked.
"Sure," I replied.
"We have Biology, Geometrey, and English together!" She exclaimed.
I had a smile 50ft. wide, reaching the corners of my face. Atleast I had about half of my classes with her.
"Ting, Ting, Ting," the bell rang dismissing us from advisory. I had completely forgotten about lunch even though I spent more than half of the day in that tedious classroom.
Stelle and I walked together and found an empty table opposite to the lunch lines, so we could avoid the crowd. I examined the commons, taking every detail in and burning to the side of my brain. There were six luch lines, each serving different types of food. I guess that's why a truck full of mixed smells was hitting my nose. A few people glanced our way but mostly everyone was busy gossiping about first day of school outfits and their schedules. The only thing I liked about lunch was that there was a library in the commons, so I can escape to 'my world' anytime I'd like. Stelle was patient with me, I guess she understood I didn't like to talk  a lot. She made little jokes and funny remarks about other people's appearances to make me laugh. I enjoyed spending time with her.
We went back to advisory and stayed there for the last hour we had left before going home. Stelle and I exchanged phone numbers and walked together to the bus ramp. Sadly, we didn't ride the bus together so I would have to share my seat with a total stranger. I just hoped it would be someone nice and a girl. I'm not that fond of boys, and I definitely wouldn't like to be. After I hopped up the stairs, I asked the bus driver where my seat was and she directed me to it. I was thankful that my 'bus buddy' was a girl. I took my seat, but as soon as I looked up, I was met with some terrestrial feeling. My cheeks started burning like someone lit fire on them and my heart started beating like a hammer against my chest.
