Chapter 1

Not knowing his boyfriends head was against the air bag of a demolished car.

The accident being lethal for one of the drivers.

"He was supposed to be here two hours ago. I think he's standing me up." Kairi frowned as he talked to Robert.

"Come on Kai, I don't think that's true. Maybe he's just running late. Let's watch TV." Kairi pouted but nodded grabbing the remote.

The news channel was still on from when his mom last watched TV and he was about to switch it when a name caught his attention.

"16 year old Mattia Polibio being the driver of one of the cars. At the moment we know that the accident was lethal for one of the drivers." Kairi felt numb as he screamed and Robert grabbed him and pulled him into a tight hug.

Robert grabbed his phone and called Mattia's mom. "Is he in the hospital?" Was the first thing he asked.

"Y-yes." He heard a broken sounding voice answer him. "I'm bringing Kairi we'll be there in twenty minutes."

Robert picked Kairi up off of the couch and they got into his car, buckling up and carefully driving to the hospital.

Kairi ran in and quickly signed in as a visitor and asked for Mattia. When he saw Mattia's mom outside of the room in the hall he ran to her and hugged her.

"P-please tell me it wasn't him." Kairi practically sobbed into her shoulder as he spoke.

"God no baby, he's okay. He broke two ribs and one of his legs but he's okay baby, I promise." Kairi cried and hugged her tight, thanking everything that his boyfriend was alright.

"Today's our one year anniversary. I thought it was gonna be our only one." Kairi cried as he held onto the woman.

She rubbed his back as they sat waiting to be able to see him.

"Mattia Polibio?" A doctor came out and they both stood quickly. "You guys can go in now."

They both walked up to the door and stood there for a minute. Kairi looked up at the woman and gave her a broken smile which she returned and opened the door.

They walked in and saw the boy with red eyes from crying and he was all casted up.

"T-tia?" Kairi slowly walked towards the bed, Mattia looked up at him and he looked so broken.

"T-this is all my fault. I should've waited to look at the notification, I killed him." Mattia looked at him with tears flowing down his cheeks.

"Baby, the other driver was intoxicated, and the footage from a security camera on one of the lamp posts shows him swirving into you. It wasn't just your fault." She pet his hair, hating the cut on his forehead.

"P-promise?" He looked up at her with a frown. "Promise I'm not a killer?"

Mattia's mom's heart broke hearing her son's thoughts. "I promise, baby. I promise."

Kairi finally calmed down enough to get closed to the boy in the hospital bed, wrapping his arms gently around his shoulders and kissing his forehead.

"Baby, you are no killer, it was an accident. Don't think that. Ever." He lightly pecked his lips and hugged him.

"You don't hate me?" Mattia looked up at him from his bed.

"I will never hate you, Mattia. I love you." Kairi felt confident in his words as he held his boyfriends hand.

"I love you too, Kai." Mattia smiled lightly at him. "Will you lay with me Kai?" He scooted so the boy would have space on his bed.

"Of course, Tia." Kairi carefully laid next to him and let his fingers run through Mattia's hair, slowly soothing the boy into a peaceful sleep.

About two hours after the boy fell asleep his heart rate went up making the machine beep as he jumped awake crying.

"Hey, hey. Baby, what's wrong?" Kairi gently laid a hand on his shoulder pulling him back down.

"T-the accident. I saw it again, but this time the other driver was you." Mattia looked at him sadly.

"Baby, I'm okay. I'm right here, with you. We're okay. Happy one year anniversary baby." Kairi smiled and pecked his lips causing Mattia to smile as well.

"Pretty lousy anniversary," Mattia giggled. "I had a whole lot planned, speaking of which did someone tell the other guys, they were probably confused."

"Robert did. And I had something planned too." Kairi laughed. "What did you have planned, Tia?"

"I got your favorite food and some decorations and a personal playlist with the song we first kissed to on it." Mattia blushed as he told the boy.

"Awe Tia, that's so sweet." Kairi smiled at him and pecked his lips.

"What did you have planned Kai?" Kairi looked up to make sure Mattia's mom hadn't come back. He leaned close and whispered in Mattia's ear.

"Um lingerie..." It was Kairi's turn to blush as he told him his present.

"Kairi Cosentino." Mattia looked at him with fake shock gracing his face.
"You are so wearing that when I get out of here."

Mattia and Kairi both laughed and Kairi snuggled closed to him. He was so thankful he was alive.
