"Who am I exactly?" I questioned myself.

Was I really an SAO survivor? I didn't go through the full two years wearing the NerveGear. Lying down on top of the roof of my house, I stared into the morning sky. The cold air surrounded me like a blanket.

"Time to go inside," I thought.

I slid down the roof and onto the balcony of my room. Opening the door, a warm breeze flooded my face. I stepped inside and took off my jacket.y computer was still on and covered more situations about the story of SAO. There was a clip of Kikuoka standing there addressing the news-press.

"How did you know what was happening in there?" someone questioned.

"That's highly classified," he stated.

"Did you have any solutions to saving the victims earlier?" another one asked.

"No we haven't," he responded.

"There were rumors of a mysterious person in the game. Was that person associated with you?"

"No, from what we're inferring from players and our research is that it could be a doing of the Cardinal system running SAO."

"We highly doubt that. Tell us more about the so-called Incognito Individual!"

Staring at the screen, I saw Kikuoka bite his lip for a moment.

He sighed before laughing, "I still can't believe you people think that we know this person. We had NO eyes in the game. The only thing we could tally were deaths."

I sighed in relief and closed the news tab. A game called Alfhiem Online or ALO for short was in my recommended game list. I'm not going back...at least not yet.

"But how are they doing?" I asked myself.

The Mercury Wolves all survived SAO. However, we were so spread out across Japan that the odds of us reuniting was slim to none. At least, I won't be there because my school granted me the ability to come back after I took placements tests that I aced. I feel like they hated me for appearing and disappearing, but I persevered and wiggled back in.

I looked at the Amusphere resting under my computer monitor. I still haven't got a clue why I went back even though I could have stayed longer than expected. I don't think I was thinking straight that day. Maybe I just wanted to be with the Mercury Wolves...with Kimiko.

"Time and time again I keep on being an idiot with dumb luck," I thought to myself.

A small notification popped up onto my desktop. In bold, I could see Kikuoka's phone number. Grabbing my headset, I opened the call.

"Hey, this is Kaito Sato," I greeted.

He requested, "Kaito, could you do something right now?"

"It's Christmas break, can't I take a break?"

"It's a proposition."

"On what?"

"We're debating on whether or not you want to be in the records?"
