please read my note at the end

"Hey," Madison took me out of my thoughts, pulling my eyes away from the road for a second. "You doing okay? You're a little quiet over there."

"Of course I'm okay. Why do you say that?" I answered, looking at the rear view mirror to check on Bates who was curled up in the back seat of our rental car.

Madison studied me, squinting her eyes with a little smirk.

"You're nervous."

"I'm not nervous," I tightened my hand on the wheel as I slowly pushed on the brake, bringing the car to a stop at a red light. Madison grabbed my chin and made me look at her.

"They're going to love you." She said softly, sending me her puppy eyes. A look she knew I loved.

"You don't know that—"

"I knew it!" She laughed. I scoffed and moved my face away from her hand just as the light turned green. She put her hand on my shoulder and rubbed it.

"Don't worry, baby. My mom and I are the same person, and knowing myself, she'll agree that you're the one." She cheesed, making me blush and my heart flutter. "The only one for me. Aw, your cheeks are red."

"Stop it."

"And you'll love my brother," she continued, her hand moving down to squeeze my leg. "Or he'll love you. He went crazy when I told him I was moving in with you. You should've heard him when I told him we were together."

"He doesn't like me?"

"Y/N, he's been a fan of your music for a LONG time. Since you and Camila got together."

"You knew about me then?" I asked, smiling to myself. It was weird hearing Madison talk about my other relationship, but it was nice to know it wasn't weird for her.

"Everyone knew about you. You fucking produced Lemonade at 20 years old. Ryder thought you were a God."

"You were 17 when I was 20," I winced, never having thought about that.

"And I still thought you were hot as fuck."

"Wow," I rolled my eyes playfully. She squeezed my leg against and put her feet up on the dash. "You told me you were straight when you first moved in. So did Sierra."

"I lied. She lied. Why do you think she got so pissed that we fucked that first night? If it was just a hook up with someone I couldn't catch feelings for, why would she be so protective?"

"You're kidding," my jaw dropped. "How could I have missed that?"

"You missed a lot," she pulled me in a for a quick kiss. "But don't worry about it. You're about to meet my mom, we're way past figuring out whether I like girls or not."

"You surprise me everyday."

"What can I say? I'm unpredictable."

I hummed and turned the car down a smaller street from the one we were on. We were getting closer to her house, and although sweet, her words didn't aid much of my anxiety. Meeting a significant other's parents had always been nerve-racking, but it was different with Madison. It was so much scarier.

I couldn't deny that the little town of Jericho, New York was beautiful. Snow had started to fall already, but only a light frost. I was also able to wear my favorite coat and a pair of boots that Madison picked out for me. Bates always looked cute in his little sweaters, and Madison was looking amazing as ever, in a furry sherpa that little snowflakes clung to. They peppered her hair and melted on her warm skin. I had grown up in New York, only thirty minutes away, but I was accustomed to the weather in California and forgot just how much I loved New York.
